Technology Talent
During the past decade, Spain has
experienced a strong economic growth
cycle. Now buoyed by the health of the
country’s financial and corporate
infrastructure, growth of the global
economy and expanding trade relations,
Spain continues to produce new jobs and
perform well. Global organizations operating
in Europe as well as European companies
preferring a nearshore outsourcing
arrangement will value the Delivery Centers
in Spain for their efficiency and productivity.
On the cusp of the outsourcing trend, the
Delivery Center in Madrid was established
in 1992. Located in Pozuelo de Alarcón,
the center focuses on Hostcentric-related
offerings and application renewal services
for clients. The city’s growing technological
and communications infrastructure invites
a high concentration of software and IT
services companies to locate in the business
district. Madrid has several renowned
universities and other training capabilities
as well.
Málaga, a city on the Mediterranean coast,
maintains global touch points through a
busy international airport and high-speed
train. The city offers its citizens a high
quality of life paired with a moderate cost
of living and is home to both international
schools as well as Málaga University. From
this prime location, the Accenture Delivery
Center in Málaga provides Solutioncentric
(Siebel, SAP and Oracle), Netcentric
(Microsoft, Java and Business Intelligence)
and service-oriented architecture (SOA)
services to clients.
Accenture has also established delivery
centers in Seville, Barcelona and Bilbao to
primarily serve the domestic market. These
delivery centers capitalize on the regional
talent within the country and diversify the
outsourcing options available to clients.
All three delivery centers offer Hostcentric,
Solutioncentric, Netcentric and SOA services
via a knowledgeable and trained workforce.
As part of a rigorous training program for
the Accenture Global Delivery Network,
our delivery center professionals in Spain
receive training on the Accenture Delivery
Suite, an approach that focuses on a set
of standardized delivery assets, processes
and metrics. The Accenture Delivery Suite
helps facilitate service transition, increase
application development and management
productivity and reliability, and support
ongoing operations—all while reducing
client risk.
Using this approach, the Accenture Delivery
Centers in Spain have served 150 clients
in 20 countries, with an emphasis on
SAP- and Oracle-based solutions for the
communications & high tech, banking,
retail, oil and utilities industries. Clients
include British Telecom, Carrefour, Compañía
Española de Petróleos, S.A. (CEPSA),
European Aeronautic Defense and Space
Company, Fremap, RENFE (the Spanish
national railway) and SAP AG.
In one client example, the delivery center
professionals in Madrid and Málaga are
providing Telefónica with maintenance
services for more than 100 existing billing,
mobile services and supplies applications.
Among other things, the delivery center
team is working on application renewal
(inverse engineering, technical
documentation, software quality) and
evolutionary maintenance for mainframe
and Java C/++ (technical design, support
and integration test). Equally important,
the two centers are pursuing quality and
productivity improvement programs to
increase the level of service provided to
Telefónica.
