To prepare professionals for the textile and made-ups industries, with<br />

creative, technical, product development capabilities and<br />

merchandising exposure.<br />

SCENARIO AHEAD<br />

The textile industry is the backbone of home furnishing and apparel<br />

segments and accounts for nearly 1/3rd of India’s export earnings.<br />

Since the post MFA phase and globalization of trade, this discipline<br />

provides unlimited opportunities to take up lucrative, creative careers<br />

as home furnishings, home textiles and fashion fabrics designers/<br />

merchandisers in weaving, printing, made-ups, embroidery and other<br />

surface ornamentation industries<br />

GETTING STARTED<br />

The first semester will orient students to the basic Elements of Design,<br />

Visualization & Drawing techniques, Photography, Nature Studies<br />

and Conceptualization through Design Process. An introduction to<br />

elementary weaves, textiles science and fabric ornamentation in<br />

this phase provides an understanding of basic knowledge and skills<br />

for textile structures, processes and materials through studio<br />

practicals and design explorations.
