the third year for what has become a widely favored event with something for everyone.<br />

This four day adventure for the benefit <strong>of</strong> Hospice <strong>of</strong> San Luis Obispo County began with a<br />

Thursday morning breakfast at the Commons in Calabasas followed by a back road run to<br />

Avila Beach. A mid afternoon arrival in Avila allowed plenty <strong>of</strong> time to prepare for the<br />

Opening Night festivities.<br />

The historic Fremont Theater in downtown San Luis Obispo <strong>of</strong>fered a perfect venue for tasting<br />

the signature dishes <strong>of</strong>fered by a selection <strong>of</strong> local restaurants paired with special wines<br />

from the region. Participants were <strong>of</strong>fered Rock Star parking on the specially closed boulevard<br />

fronting the theater. Adding to the excitement, the Autogallery eighteen wheel truck<br />

and trailer race team support vehicle was situated immediately across from the theater<br />

where it was strategically surrounded with the latest <strong>Ferrari</strong>, Maserati and Porsche <strong>of</strong>ferings.<br />

Friday opened with another Wesley Hatakeyama orchestrated European-styled Timed Rally<br />

through the unmatched back roads unique to the area. Participants were welcomed to a<br />

lunch stop in Parkfield, a settlement <strong>of</strong> 18 at the apex <strong>of</strong> the San Andreas Fault that has<br />

come to be known as the “Earthquake Capital <strong>of</strong> California.” Following a carefully timed<br />

lunch recess, the rally continued to its completion in Paso Robles where, once again,<br />

the parking surrounded the city’s central park was reserved for the exclusive use <strong>of</strong> the<br />

competitors.<br />

The 22 square mile Santa Margarita Ranch was host to the Friday evening dinner where a<br />

buffet was served within the California Mission located in the center <strong>of</strong> the Ranch. Dinner<br />

was followed by music and dancing for the enjoyment <strong>of</strong> all.<br />
