<strong>Swedish</strong> <strong>Military</strong> <strong>Motorcycles</strong>. <strong>NV</strong> <strong>Military</strong> <strong>1000</strong><br />

With the start of WWII, Husqvarna, the main <strong>Swedish</strong> motorized equipment<br />

producer, that had brilliant successes in the 1920s-1930s, was re-oriented towards<br />

arms production. The <strong>Swedish</strong> government wishing to support motorcycle<br />

production within the country’s borders asked Husqvarna to create a special army<br />

motorcycle which several companies would have been able to produce. This effort<br />

resulted in the creation of M/42 500 cc, 3-speed motorcycle Model M/42. It was<br />

made by Husquarna, Monarch and <strong>NV</strong>. By the war end 3000 units were<br />

manufactured.<br />

The <strong>Swedish</strong> company called Nymans Verkstader (<strong>NV</strong>) produced its first<br />

motorcycle in 1926. During its period of operations the <strong>NV</strong> company produced<br />

mostly light mototcycles with well-known engine brands, such as Eiber and DKW.


Heavy all-terrain motorcycle noteworthy when following the history of the <strong>NV</strong><br />

brand: supplied with a sidecar it was designed and manufactured for the <strong>Swedish</strong><br />

army. On the basis of the M/42 engine a V-shape OHV 990-cc motor was built. The<br />

undercarriage consisted of a powerful pipe frame and a telescopic front fork.<br />

Transmission was made up of the 3-speed gearbox featuring an additional two-step<br />

divider and separate reverse option. Rear wheel drive was chain-driven and the<br />

sidecar wheel drive was made switchable.
