with JCD on the sidelines. The #79 car of Clay and
Seth Thomas stayed in the fi ght and ran in the
top fi ve for most of the race, but late contact also
dropped it back to 15th place at the checker. It was
left to ST veterans Bill Heumann and Dave White
to keep the BW banner fl ying out front, which they
did, fi nishing ninth in class.
As you read this, two more races, last month’s
contests at Laguna Seca and NJMP, are history.
Since they took place past press time for this issue,
you may read about them next time – unless
you visit the SPEED Channel fi rst. Meanwhile,
though, it strikes us that Thomas’ comment after
Road America keynotes BW’s season very well:
“While 2011 has turned into more of a learning
year than we’d wanted,” he said, “our goal is now
to turn all of those lessons into a championshipwinning
team next season.”
With only next month’s fi nale at Mid-Ohio left
on the schedule, and unless a miracle happened
last month, Thomas’ comment seems spot on.
