Middlebrook Tree Lighting
Over eighty-five local residents came to the annual Ruritan tree lighting in the center
of town. The tree has grown so much in the last year that members who strung the
lights barely placed the last light on the top. Fire barrels and hot chocolate kept the
participants warm. Cookies, brownies and candy canes added to the festivities. This
year we had entertainment by Adam Marsh’s blue grass band. Our own Rudy Bear
handed out Christmas gifts to the many children that gathered. The tree was spectacular
when the switch was thrown. Many participants were heard to exclaim: This
is what Christmas is all about, nothing fancy, but the gathering of neighbors enjoying
a cold but beautiful evening in the village, visiting, eating, listening to great music
and singing Christmas carols. Go to the Middlebrook website to see a slide show of
the event.

President’s Message
Thank you to all the volunteers who organized the annual Christmas tree
lighting. It was a heart warming event, one the community will remember.
This has been a very active year for the club. We donated over 9000 hours
and over $20,000 to improve our community. Our committees all received
Gold Awards and our own Joe Vecchioli was named District Ruritan of the
Year. This month we swear in our 2011 Officers and Board Members. Our
2011 Objectives are approved and in print, if your family has not received a
copy please pick one up at the next meeting. I have thoroughly enjoyed
working with all of our wonderful members and volunteers who give of their
time to make this community special. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
