PRESS RELEASE
SAME DEUTZ FAHR OPENS PRODUCTION
FACILITY IN RUSSIA
18 November 2008. Moscow. SAME DEUTZ-FAHR (SDF), a leading international
producer of agricultural machinery is announcing the opening of its own production
facility in Russia. The expected investments will be in excess of 20 million euros in 5
years.
The assembly project to be located in Moskovskaya Oblast, Leninsky Raion, d.
Asherino, is expected to be launched in the first half of 2009. The project, which is
focussed on the assembly of the medium and high horsepower range tractors (165 –
270 HP), will be developed in 2 phases:
- completion of tractors imported from Germany with localized, selectedl components
(rims, tires, hydraulics, etc.);
- production of tractors assembled with imported components from Germany and
Russian localized components.
‘We have always considered Russian market as the one with the highest potential and
a very attractive one for investments, states Massimo Bordi, CEO of SDF. With the
first and second step outlined above, we will reach and quickly exceed a localized
component value of 20% . The aim is to increase production capacity in Russia and
the local added value in order to optimize the production costs.
In 2008 SDF, which is present in Russia with a commercial subsidiary, expects an
increase in the volume of tractors sold in CIS countries up to 300 units. In 2013, the
company anticipates to reach a total sales volume of 1,500 tractors per year.
The main factors, which will lead to such an ambitious result are first of all the
strategic decision of its German and global brand DEUTZ-FAHR to be commercialized
in the CIS region. The reinforcement of the sales network by appointing one exclusive
distributor for Russia, EuroAgroPostavka and dedicated, exclusive importers for
Ukraine and Kazakhstan are additional steps to guarantee an efficient penetration of
these important markets.
A further milestone in the SDF development in CIS markets is represented by the
cooperation agreements with ‘Concern Tractor Plants’ and AgromashHolding.
SDF is focussing on an excellent level of After Sales service thanks to the spare parts
warehouse which was opened in Moscow this past September and thanks to a team of

technicians to be set up for technical assistance and training. Effective marketing
channels for increased promotion of SDF will give its products and activities the right
visibility on these markets. One of the first targets to be achieved is the gold medal
and silver medal awards for “innovative technology implementation” that has been
made to SDF during the first edition of the ‘Agrosalon’ tradeshow, held in Moscow
during the month of November.
“The reinforcement of our distributor network in the CIS countries, the new spare
parts warehouse and the creation of an active After Sales and Training team are
effective tools that confirm the plans to increase our presence in these fast growing
markets” – Mr. Andrea Bedosti, Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and After
Sales added.
