R.A.D. Systems
The Rape Aggression Defense System “R.A.D” is a
program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques
for women.
The R.A.D System is a comprehensive female-only
course that begins with awareness, prevention, and
risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing
on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D
is not a Martial Arts program.
Nationally certified R.A.D. instructors teach our
courses and each student is provided with a workbook/reference
manual. This manual outlines the
entire Physical Defense Program for reference and
continuous personal growth, and is the key to our
free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D
graduates.
Classes are generally offered semi-annually and are
open to females age 16 and older.
D.A.R.E.
The Vero Beach Police Department’s Drug Abuse
Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program continues
to educate the children of Vero Beach about the effects
of tobacco, alcohol, other drugs, and violence.
Over 300 fifth graders in four elementary schools
participate in the ten week D.A.R.E. curriculum.
D.A.R.E. is a police officer led series of classroom
lessons that teach children how to resist peer pressure
and live productive drug and violence free lives.
At the culmination of the ten-week program students
graduate from the D.A.R.E. program with a graduation
ceremony and a pledge to remain drug, alcohol,
and violence free.
In 2011 D.A.R.E. students, throughout the county,
attended D.A.R.E. skate parties at The Skate Factory
the first Thursday of every month. These events
help raise funds for the D.A.R.E. programs graduation
ceremonies.
