Nishikawa Cooper, specializing in the<br />

manufacture of rubber and glass for<br />

the new plant in Mexico. The exact location for the new facility,<br />

which will manufacture Audi’s Q5 sport-utility vehicle starting in<br />

2016, will be chosen by Audi later this year and it is expected that the<br />

company will invest as much as 2 billion usd.<br />

The plant will assist Volkswagen in its quest <strong>to</strong> boost US sales <strong>to</strong><br />

1 million units by 2018 –including 200,000 Audis and 800,000 VWbranded<br />

vehicles. The au<strong>to</strong>maker is also seeking <strong>to</strong> sell 10 million<br />

vehicles worldwide by that year, which it believes would position it<br />

as the industry’s global sales leader.<br />

Water TreatmentPlant<br />

Mexican construction company Grupo Carso<br />

will invest approximately 1 billion usd in the<br />

construction of a major water treatment plant<br />

at A<strong>to</strong><strong>to</strong>nilco, in the central state of Hidalgo.<br />

The plant is planned <strong>to</strong> recycle 60% of waste<br />

water in the Valley of Mexico, where Mexico<br />

City is located.<br />

SolFocus has joined hands with Mexican<br />

real estate developer Grupo Musa and US<br />

based energy developer Synergy Technologies<br />

<strong>to</strong> launch a solar power plant in Baja<br />

California, Mexico.<br />

The project will have a <strong>to</strong>tal capacity of<br />

450 MW. It will be built in 50 megawatt<br />

tranches, with construction on the first one<br />

starting in late 2012 and being operational<br />

before the end of 2013.<br />

The power plant will use SolFocus Concentra<strong>to</strong>r<br />

Pho<strong>to</strong>voltaic equipment. It will<br />

be owned and operated by SolMex Energy,<br />

a new company formed by Grupo Musa and<br />

Synergy Technologies for producing clean<br />

solar energy in Mexico.<br />
