NEWS NEWS Intel Unveils All New 2010 Intel® Core Processor Family Intel Corporation introduced its all new 2010 Intel® Core family of processors featuring unprecedented integration, smart performance, and including Intel® Turbo Boost Technology1 for laptops, desktops and embedded devices. The introduction of new Intel® Core i7, i5 and i3 chips coincides with Intel’s new 32 nanometer (nm) manufacturing process which is key to delivering processors and features at a variety of price points, and integrating high-definition graphics inside the processor. More than 400 laptop and desktop PC platform designs are expected from computer makers based on these products, with another 200 expected for embedded devices. CriticalBlue Optimizes 2nd Generation Processor Support CriticalBlue has enhanced its Prism product for software developers who are migrating to the 2nd generation Intel® Core processor family. Software developers can now analyze their existing software applications, evaluate benefits, and select the appropriate Intel® processor. The 2nd generation Intel Core processor family supports the Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX) which provide a new 256-bit SIMD floating point vector extension to the Intel® architecture. Exploiting features such as Intel AVX and Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology increases performance and lowers application power consumption. GE 2nd Generation Embedded Designs Deliver Greater Performance Per Watt GE Intelligent Platforms is utilizing 2nd Generation Intel® Core i7 processors – formerly codenamed ‘Sandy Bridge’ - in a series of new products to be announced in the coming months. The first product will be the SBC624, a 6U OpenVPX single board computer featuring a range of processor options including a quad core Intel Core i7 processor running at up to 2.1GHz, ideal for applications like signal processing in intelligence/surveillance/reconnaissance and radar/sonar. Mercury’s new modules enable best-of-breed subsystem application performance for extremely demanding ISR, defense, and aerospace applications. The 6U OpenVPX LDS6521 module utilizes the Intel® Core i7-2715QE processor to handle overwhelming volumes of high-resolution digital data. The Intel Core i7- 2715QE processor doubles the number of cores available on a single device over the previous generation and now supports four cores. RadiSys Quad-Core COM Express 2.0 Module Based on 2nd Generation Intel® Core i7 Processor RadiSys’ Procelerant CEQM67 module delivers extreme processing power and graphics within a basic 95mm x 125mm form factor for medical, enterprise telecom and mil/ aero applications Based on the 2nd generation Intel® Core i7 processor at 2.1GHz and Intel® QM67 Express chipset the module is designed for industries including medical, enterprise telecom and mil/aero as they migrate to smaller, more powerful, scalable devices that demand graphics and processor performance for video-intensive applications. Procelerant CEQM67 is RadiSys’ first Type 6 COM Express 2.0 compliant product that provides quad-core processing in a basic 95mm x 125mm form factor COM Express revision 2.0 module. X-ES Introduces Product Line Featuring 2nd Generation Intel® Core i7 Processor Extreme Engineering Solutions, Inc. (X-ES) introduces the XPedite7470, a conduction- or air-cooled 3U VPX Single Board Computer (SBC). X-ES’s first of six standard form factor products based on the 2nd generation Intel® Core i7 processor, the XPedite7470 utilizes the processor’s quadcore technology operating at 2.1 GHz to deliver enhanced performance and efficiency, making it an excellent COTS product for deployed military applications. X-ES has teamed with RunTime Computing Solutions® to support applications that can take advantage of the SIMD architecture of Intel AVX. VSI/Pro®, the premier math and signal processing
library available from RunTime Computing, will be supported on the XPedite7470 and all X-ES products based on the 2nd generation Intel Core i7 processor. Kontron Announces Over 10 Embedded Platforms Based on 2nd Generation Intel® Processors Kontron announced that it will be supporting this advanced new microarchitecture with CPU, processor graphics, memory controller (some with ECC support) and PCIe controller on a single die on over 10 embedded platforms. The 2nd generation Intel® Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors have a completely new microarchitecture, enabling small-sized designs to be created with unmatched computing power, graphics performance and energy efficiency on a small footprint*. In addition, with Kontron’s valueadded middleware, and strength in offering market-specific I/Os via FPGA, even more specific applications can be customtailored. LynuxWorks Announces LynxSecure Support for 2nd Generation Intel® Processor Family L y n u x W o r k s , Inc., announced LynxSecure 4.0 support of the new Intel® Core i7 and Core i5 processor families. LynxSecure is a separation kernel and embedded hypervisor that provides an environment in which multiple guest operating systems and their applications can execute at the same time, in their own virtual partitions, without compromising security, reliability or data integrity. LynxSecure offers two virtualization schemes, paravirtualized guest OSes such as Linux and LynxOS-SE offering NEWS maximum performance, and fully virtualized guest OSes such as Windows, Solaris and Chromium OS requiring no changes to the guest OS.
