Welfare St<strong>at</strong>istics<br />
Last year <strong>Hospitality</strong> <strong>Action</strong> spent £460,887 supporting 1,506 people<br />
In 2007 we helped:<br />
● 110 people with a Top-Up grant (regular financial support to people past pension age)<br />
● 63 people with a Crisis Grant (awarded to people <strong>of</strong> working age to help with general living costs following a crisis resulting<br />
in sudden loss <strong>of</strong> income e.g. bereavement or illness)<br />
● 437 people with Essential Needs Grants (one-<strong>of</strong>f grants <strong>of</strong>fering assistance towards <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> an item or to improve<br />
quality <strong>of</strong> life e.g. medical equipment, he<strong>at</strong>ing <strong>and</strong> clothing)<br />
49% <strong>of</strong> grants given were in response to poverty <strong>and</strong> 36% to life changing illness<br />
We also provided vital communic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>and</strong> assistance to our 1,046 Family Members<br />
(retirees <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> industry who have grown isol<strong>at</strong>ed over <strong>the</strong> years)<br />
We reached 9,781 students in 203 colleges <strong>and</strong> universities with <strong>the</strong> Ark message<br />
