President’s Message
The recent ACNA
Convention was quite tense
for me, but ‘only’ during the
BOD meeting where I was to
represent the whole of
APOGLA to deliberate on our
position against APOHA. I
explained and tried to
convince them - for good
reasons - that APOHA’s
recognition should be null and
void for it has not complied
with the necessary
requirements. Somehow, it was to no avail. Brothers and
Sisters that we all are (supposedly), everyone in the room
wants us to work on forgiveness, peace and to have
harmonious relationships with everyone involved.
Nevertheless, I delivered our position and our sentiment why
we oppose APOHA’s recognition by ACNA.
Every ACNA Convention brings or provides many different
kinds of excitement and fanfare to APO Brothers, Sisters
and our familial members. The recent convention was no
different. With GLA’s one hundred percent Delegate
participation, the convention was successful. We had a great
time and at the same time accomplished some important
APO ACNA matters, namely: we have accomplished the
approval of necessary recommended amendments to
APOPHIL by-laws that will make ACNA and APOPHIL CBL
compatible to each other. Although this is only the first step,
there are still much work to be done before this will become
a reality.
Please join me in congratulating our Brothers and Sisters
from APOGLA who got into different positions in ACNA and
the Librado I Ureta Foundation as well, namely; Brod Roehl
Reyes for ACNA’s 2nd Vice-President; for the LIU Foundation,
Brod Art Rivera was elected as Secretary and Sis
Emma Galang as Treasurer. On a later development, Brod
Francis Franco was named Chairman of ARNA Comelec.
I am also proud to announce to you that APOGLA won,
unopposed, the hosting of the APO ACNA 11th Biennial
Convention in 2012. In this regard, during our September
11 Execom and BOD joint meeting, everyone agreed that
Brod Art Rivera will be the Overall Chairman of the
Convention which he later accepted without any hesitation.
Let’s give Brod Art a big round of applause.
Brod Roehl Reyes, as the 2nd Vice President of ACNA,
one of his primary functions is to be in-charge of the ACNA
Convention. So, let us join hands and help these two Brothers
make the 11th ACNA Convention a very memorable
celebration and, as usual, one that is for the books!
Moving on to our next activities, this Saturday, September
18, will be our presentation of candidates. To those who want
to serve our beloved APOGLA, I am encouraging everyone to
attend and let your voices be heard. Our COMELEC is ready
to assist you. Our Executive positions and the Board of
Directors’ position is open for anyone qualified. ‘Kung hindi
ngayon, kailan pa’?
Fourth quarter is almost here. October: our GMM,
Operation Gratitude, Election of Officers and Halloween party
for our APO Kids. More information will be announced later.
November is our Thanksgiving Celebration and Awards Night.
December is one of our most awaited celebrations of the
year: our Christmas/APO Anniversary Party and induction
of our new set of Officers. Our respective Chairpersons of
