APPENDIX B: Internship Documents Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College History/Political Science Tifton, GA Internship Training Agreement This internship agreement is between the student, the employer, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. The purpose of the internship is to provide the student with experiential learning activities in their specified major of study at a reputable and agreeable site while exposing the student to responsibilities in the workplace. The hours of productive training and work are to be the same as those of the other employees of the organization unless otherwise approved by the employment supervisor and ABAC representative. The intern is enrolled as a student of ABAC and subject to the same rules and regulations as all other students. The student will receive 3 semester credit hours for the internship. The student is expected to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week for each 3 hours of academic credit received during the regular academic year (160 hours). Adjustments to the time commitment will be made for summer term commensurate with the reduced number of weeks for summer instruction; under normal conditions, an intern would likely be expected to work 20 hours per week during the summer for 3 hours academic credit. Requirements • All parties will negotiate no more than 3 specific goals or objectives that the student will be expected to complete during the internship. • Students will keep a log of work activities and evaluate their progress toward the objectives. • Prior to receiving final credit for the internship, the student will prepare a written synopsis of the experience, with observations about the value and quality of the experience and the concepts learned. The report of 3 to 4 pages is due at the end of the internship. • If the supervisor thinks the intern is not making sufficient progress to warrant continuing the internship, he/she may contact the coliege representative and, upon proper review, the student may be withdrawn from the placement site. • At the end the supervisor should provide a letter of completion and a brief assessment of the work accomplished during the internship. This assessment should address such potential topics as work personality, judgment, initiative, motivation, industry, reliability, cooperation, determination, and leadership. By signing this document, each party agrees to terms for the specified period of time as identified in the attached Information Form.
