Size <strong>of</strong> the Generator,<br />

The fiirst problem inihleh presents itself in the design <strong>of</strong><br />

any power plant - is the determination <strong>of</strong> the Size <strong>of</strong> the Generator,<br />

This prohlem is solved first by detailed analysis <strong>of</strong> the amount <strong>of</strong><br />

power which the plant will be called upon to furnish. The result thus<br />

obtained should then be checked against the results which have been<br />

obtained in past experience with similar installations. If the two<br />

differ - then there must be some peculiarity about the installation<br />

under investigation, and this peculiarity should be isolated and given<br />

special attention in order to ascertain irtiether or not proper weight is<br />

being given to its influence.<br />

The size <strong>of</strong> the plant in the case at hand was estimated<br />

by making assumptions <strong>of</strong> the loads required by the different classes<br />

<strong>of</strong> service at the time <strong>of</strong> the peak loadi; as given in the following<br />
