<strong>Audi</strong> in the <strong>2010</strong> <strong>DTM</strong><br />
Can <strong>Audi</strong> clinch its fourth<br />
consecutive title in the <strong>2010</strong> <strong>DTM</strong>?<br />
<strong>Audi</strong> was involved in the <strong>DTM</strong> as a factory team from 1990<br />
to 1992, and returned to the fold in 2004. It is now into its<br />
tenth season in Europe’s most popular touring car racing<br />
series. Over the years, the <strong>Audi</strong> team has won the <strong>DTM</strong> title<br />
no less than six times, not to mention a seventh title in the<br />
2002 season together with the Abt Sportsline privateer<br />
team. Having made history last year by achieving a hattrick,<br />
<strong>Audi</strong> now intends to be behind this year’s champion<br />
for the fourth time in a row. To achieve this feat, Head of<br />
<strong>Audi</strong> Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich has put together the<br />
company’s youngest ever team of <strong>DTM</strong> drivers. Eight of the<br />
nine drivers, which include the current champions Mattias<br />
Ekström and Timo Scheider, have been part of the <strong>Audi</strong><br />
team before. The newcomer is the Spaniard Miguel Molina<br />
who, at 21 years of age, brings the drivers’ average age<br />
down to 27.5 years old ahead of the next season.<br />
The nine <strong>Audi</strong> <strong>A4</strong> <strong>DTM</strong> being driven by the familiar teams<br />
<strong>Audi</strong> Sport Team Abt Sportsline, <strong>Audi</strong> Sport Team Phoenix<br />
and <strong>Audi</strong> Sport Team Rosberg are characterised by their<br />
excellent efficiency. A development freeze implemented in<br />
the <strong>DTM</strong> in August 2009 will by no means detract from the<br />
