Vážení a milí abonenti – a všichni ctitelé dobré hudby vůbec,
srdečně vás vítám v naší nové sezoně 2012–2013!
Kdybych nestál v čele Pražské komorní filharmonie, ale jednalo se tu
o lidskou bytost, již jsem dostal svěřenu do péče, asi bych si právě nyní
mohutně oddechl, a jistě s radostí i posmutněním – v loni PKF úspěšně
zvládla mezník své existence: dovršení osmnáctého roku života, stanutí
na prahu dospělosti. Velká věc! Ovšem život orchestru se přece
jen ubírá jiným tempem než život člověka a PKF dosáhla dospělosti již
dávno. V posvěcených okamžicích nesou její výkony znaky hudební
zralosti. Je v pravém slova smyslu ve svém nejlepším věku.
Rozhodli jsme se tedy, že toto kvazi výročí začátku dospělosti slavit
nebudeme a počkáme společně raději na pořádně kulatou „dvacítku“. A tu v roce 2014
oslavíme plnými doušky.
Letos nabízíme program „bez přívlastků“, ryzí a univerzálně krásný. Jeho předznamenáním bude
Dvořákova kantáta Stabat Mater, klenot české duchovní hudby.
Uplynulý rok se vyznačoval mimořádně úspěšnými misemi PKF na prestižní zahraniční pódia.
Orchestr zazářil v Evropě i zámoří (zejména v Japonsku a USA) a podařilo se mu stvrdit své renomé
stejně jako přesvědčit posluchače v nových destinacích o svých prvotřídních kvalitách. V některých
místech byl srovnáván s opravdu nejlepšími z nejlepších a byly vyslovovány právě ony
charakteristiky vyspělosti a zralosti.
Jsem na to nesmírně hrdý a raduji se obrovsky z každého takového úspěchu. Je tu však ještě něco:
naše abonentní koncerty v Rudolfinu. A ty znamenají zcela unikátní rozměr naší práce, svým
způsobem nejcennější. Vyslovil jsem to již vícekrát, ale vyslovuji to, neméně rád, znovu:
Hrát pro vás doma v Praze je pro nás ta největší čest a radost.
Těším se na naše společná setkání!

Dear subscribers – and everyone else with a passion for good music,
cordial greetings for the 2012–2013 season!
Were I not at the helm of the Prague Philharmonia but instead looking after a human being entrusted
to my care, I would now perhaps be heaving a sigh of relief, albeit somewhat bittersweet, since
a threshold has been reached: said child is about to turn eighteen and is on the cusp of adulthood.
That is a truly significant matter, which tempts one to make ring a celebratory string and create a duly
great clatter and yield to general rejoicing. Yet the life of an orchestra wends its way at a tempo
different to the life of a person, and the Prague Philharmonia actually reached adulthood a long time
ago. At blessed moments, its performances bear the traits of musical maturity. In the true sense
of the word, the orchestra is in its prime. Accordingly, we have decided not to celebrate this quasi
anniversary but rather wait for the round “twentieth”. And this we will be celebrating in 2014, big time.
This year, we will be offering an “unadorned” programme, pure and universally beautiful. It will be
ushered in by Dvořák’s cantata Stabat Mater, one of the apices of Czech spiritual music.
Over the past year, the Prague Philharmonia has appeared on prestigious stages abroad to great
acclaim. The orchestra has dazzled in Europe and further afield (primarily in Japan and the USA) and
succeeded in confirming its renown, as well as convincing audiences in new destinations of its first
class qualities. Our performances in some venues were compared with the finest of the finest, with
the orchestra’s maturity and ripeness being highlighted.
I am immensely proud of this and revel in every such success. Yet there is something else I would like
to draw your attention to: our subscription concert series at the Rudolfinum. These musical events
represent an entirely unique dimension of our work, the most valuable in a way. I have said this
on several occasions before, but I will say it, with no lesser joy, yet again: Playing to you, at home,
in Prague, is for us the greatest honour and delight.
