Fordel Fordel<br />
Fordel is home to a 500 cow <strong>Angus</strong> herd, in the Ochil Hills of Perthshire. Out<br />
wintered at 1000 feet on heather moorland, the herd is spring calving, calving<br />
all females at two years of age with the oldest currently aged 20. Selection has<br />
focused on maternal traits, with cows ranked by the weaning weight of calves<br />
at 200 days with no creep feeding. We breed a moderate frame, deep and<br />
naturally fl eshed type with low birth weights and rapid growth.<br />

Fordel ist die Heimat einer Herde mit 500 Kühen in den Ochil Bergen von<br />
Perthshire. Im Winter stehen sie auf Heidemoorland, im Frühling kommen alle<br />
Kühe ab zwei Jahren zum Kalben, die älteste Kuh ist derzeit 20 Jahre alt. Die<br />
Auswahl erfolgt hauptsächlich nach den mütterlichen Merkmalen, die Kühe<br />
werden bei uns rangiert nach dem Absetzgewicht der Kälber bei 200 Tagen,<br />
und dies mit keiner zusätzlichen Zufütterung. Wir züchten eine moderate<br />
Größe, tief und natürlich fl eischig mit kleinem Geburtsgewicht und schnellem<br />
Wachstum.<br />
