1981 - 1998<br />

The majority of forced disappearances documented by Families<br />

of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Disappeared</strong> were concentrated in four districts.<br />

In particular, of <strong>the</strong> forced disappearances reported<br />

to Families of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Disappeared</strong>, 33.4% (209/626) occurred<br />

in Gampaha district, 24.6% (156/626) in K<strong>and</strong>y district,<br />

10.1% (64/626) in Kalutara district <strong>and</strong> 6.7% (42/626) in<br />

Puttalum, as is shown in Table 1.<br />
