2.1 General Issues
Meeting Minutes - 14/15/16 November 2008
The Coordinator (University of Cyprus) made an overall presentation of the WideMEDnet
project, including the objectives, the work breakdown structure and the current status of the
project.
The Coordinator focused on:
• the urgent need for the contract´s approval and signing
• the accomplishment of all financial obligations as they are planned and presented in the
financial plan for the project´s duration.
2.2 WP1 Experimentation with Problem Based Learning approaches and
Web 2.0 for pilot courses developed in IntraMedNet
TEPAK as coordinator of WP1 presented a summary of the objectives and activities of this WP.
Furthermore, the leaders of the WP1 workactivities expressed their thoughts and action plans for
carrying out the work that has to be done under this WP. WP1 consists of the following
workactivities, with the responsible partner and dates given in parentheses:
o WP1.1 Experimentation with Problem Based Learning approaches and Web 2.0 (AUTH,
10/08-12/08)
o WP1.2 Course deployment (TEPAK, 10/08-12/08)
For each workactivity, the leading partner will coordinate all activities, firstly by initiating the
procedure with an action plan and dedication of work, then carrying out the work, and finally
preparing the final version of the deliverable. The WP leader will also oversee, monitor, and give
feedback on all the activities involved in this WP. More specifically, it was agreed that the
following actions be taken with respect to this WP:
For WP1.1 (Responsible partner AUTH, plus all other partners):
o Investigate platforms that are available in support of Problem Based Learning and
Web2.0.
o Platform to support WP1 can be investigated in conjunction with WP2.
o Compatibility with the Moodle platform that was the main platform for the IntraMEDnet
project has to be very seriously taken into consideration. More specifically, the possibility
of using Moodle v1.9 supporting the actions prescribed under both WP1 and WP2 has to
be investigated.
o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.
For WP1.2 (Responsible partner TEPAK, plus all other partners):
o List of WideMEDnet PBL courses will be created based on the courses developed in
IntraMEDnet (table available in Deliverable 4.2). Certainly additional courses could be
added (i.e. medical seminars organised by Pafos General Hospital). The following PBL
courses were discussed as examples:

o DICOM
o EHR
o Virtual Patient in Cardiology
o Trauma Surgery.
o Platfrom instructions on how to deploy a course in the selected platform will be prepared.
o Courses will be deployed in the selected platform.
o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.
2.3 WP2 Analysis of requirements and pilot development of a standardized
content repository for pilot courses developed in IntraMedNet
AUTH as coordinator of WP2 presented a summary of the objectives and activities of this WP.
Furthermore, the leaders of the WP2 workactivities expressed their thoughts and action plans for
carrying out the work that has to be done under this WP. WP2 consists of the following
workactivities, with the responsible partner and dates given in parentheses:
o WP2.1 Analysis of requirements (UP, 10/08-12/08)
o WP2.2 Pilot development and deployment of system (AUTH, 10/08-12/08)
For each workactivity, the leading partner will coordinate all activities, firstly by initiating the
procedure with an action plan and dedication of work, then carrying out the work, and finally
preparing the final version of the deliverable. The WP leader will also oversee, monitor, and give
feedback on all the activities involved in this WP. More specifically, it was agreed that the
following actions be taken with respect to this WP:
For WP2.1 (Responsible partner UP, plus all other partners):
o Carry out analysis of requirements for a standardised content repository and investigate
platforms that are available.
o Review of content repositories supporting Healthcare LOM and SCORM
o Platform to support WP2 can be investigated in conjunction with WP1.
o Compatibility with the Moodle platform that was the main platform for the IntraMEDnet
project has to be very seriously taken into consideration. More specifically, the possibility
of using Moodle v1.9 supporting the actions prescribed under both WP1 and WP2 has to
be investigated.
o Additional content repository platforms to be considered include:
o eRib
o Labyrinth: Repository on Virtual Patients
o MDPixx
o DSpace.
o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.
For WP2.2 (Responsible partner AUTH, plus all other partners):

o List of WideMEDnet courses will be created based on the courses developed in
IntraMEDnet (table available in Deliverable 4.2). Platfrom instructions on how to deploy
a course in the selected platform will be prepared.
o Courses will be deployed in the selected platform.
o IntraMEDnet courses to be uploaded will be SCORM compliant.
o IntraMEDnet courses to be uploaded will be using LOM Healthcare Descriptors.
o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.
2.4 WP3 Promotion activities and dissemination of results
UP as coordinator of WP3 presented a summary of the objectives and activities of this WP. More
specifically, it was agreed that the following actions be taken with respect to this WP:
o A brochure of the project and the courses available should be prepared.
o A small demo video to be available in YouTube and the project’s website will be
prepared.
o Workshop on eLearning similar to the one organised by UCY on Oct. 15 th , 2008, will be
organised pilot to the Thesalloniki meeting, Dec. 4 th , 2008, by AUTH. Similar events
related to the activities of the project will be carried out by all partners.
o All promotional and dissemination material will be made immediately available in the
project’s website (www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/widemednet).
o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.
2.5 WP4 Project Management
UCY as coordinator of WP4 presented a summary of the objectives and activities of this WP.
The two workactivities of this WP are leaded by UCY. WP4 consists of the following
workactivities:
o WP4.1 Kick off and final meetings
o WP4.2 Preparation of reports and communication with MA and partners.
UCY will undertake to carry out all the necessary actions to facilitate the soonest signature of the
contract, organise the kick-off and final meetings, and coordinating all the project management
steps of the project.
UCY will monitor financial progress and prepare the financial report, monitor technical progress
and prepare technical reports. UCY will coordinate the preparation and the final submission of
these reports, as requested by the INTERREG III B ARCHIMED office.
Communication with the Managing and Financial Authorities, i.e. the INTERREG III B
ARCHIMED office, will be carried out in the context of WP4, by the Coordinator, UCY.
