2.1 General Issues<br />

<strong>Meeting</strong> <strong>Minutes</strong> - 14/15/16 November 2008<br />

The Coordinator (<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cyprus</strong>) made an overall presentation <strong>of</strong> the WideMEDnet<br />

project, including the objectives, the work breakdown structure and the current status <strong>of</strong> the<br />

project.<br />

The Coordinator focused on:<br />

• the urgent need for the contract´s approval and signing<br />

• the accomplishment <strong>of</strong> all financial obligations as they are planned and presented in the<br />

financial plan for the project´s duration.<br />

2.2 WP1 Experimentation with Problem Based Learning approaches and<br />

Web 2.0 for pilot courses developed in IntraMedNet<br />

TEPAK as coordinator <strong>of</strong> WP1 presented a summary <strong>of</strong> the objectives and activities <strong>of</strong> this WP.<br />

Furthermore, the leaders <strong>of</strong> the WP1 workactivities expressed their thoughts and action plans for<br />

carrying out the work that has to be done under this WP. WP1 consists <strong>of</strong> the following<br />

workactivities, with the responsible partner and dates given in parentheses:<br />

o WP1.1 Experimentation with Problem Based Learning approaches and Web 2.0 (AUTH,<br />

10/08-12/08)<br />

o WP1.2 Course deployment (TEPAK, 10/08-12/08)<br />

For each workactivity, the leading partner will coordinate all activities, firstly by initiating the<br />

procedure with an action plan and dedication <strong>of</strong> work, then carrying out the work, and finally<br />

preparing the final version <strong>of</strong> the deliverable. The WP leader will also oversee, monitor, and give<br />

feedback on all the activities involved in this WP. More specifically, it was agreed that the<br />

following actions be taken with respect to this WP:<br />

For WP1.1 (Responsible partner AUTH, plus all other partners):<br />

o Investigate platforms that are available in support <strong>of</strong> Problem Based Learning and<br />

Web2.0.<br />

o Platform to support WP1 can be investigated in conjunction with WP2.<br />

o Compatibility with the Moodle platform that was the main platform for the IntraMEDnet<br />

project has to be very seriously taken into consideration. More specifically, the possibility<br />

<strong>of</strong> using Moodle v1.9 supporting the actions prescribed under both WP1 and WP2 has to<br />

be investigated.<br />

o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.<br />

For WP1.2 (Responsible partner TEPAK, plus all other partners):<br />

o List <strong>of</strong> WideMEDnet PBL courses will be created based on the courses developed in<br />

IntraMEDnet (table available in Deliverable 4.2). Certainly additional courses could be<br />

added (i.e. medical seminars organised by Pafos General Hospital). The following PBL<br />

courses were discussed as examples:<br />

o DICOM<br />

o EHR<br />

o Virtual Patient in Cardiology<br />

o Trauma Surgery.<br />

o Platfrom instructions on how to deploy a course in the selected platform will be prepared.<br />

o Courses will be deployed in the selected platform.<br />

o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.<br />

2.3 WP2 Analysis <strong>of</strong> requirements and pilot development <strong>of</strong> a standardized<br />

content repository for pilot courses developed in IntraMedNet<br />

AUTH as coordinator <strong>of</strong> WP2 presented a summary <strong>of</strong> the objectives and activities <strong>of</strong> this WP.<br />

Furthermore, the leaders <strong>of</strong> the WP2 workactivities expressed their thoughts and action plans for<br />

carrying out the work that has to be done under this WP. WP2 consists <strong>of</strong> the following<br />

workactivities, with the responsible partner and dates given in parentheses:<br />

o WP2.1 Analysis <strong>of</strong> requirements (UP, 10/08-12/08)<br />

o WP2.2 Pilot development and deployment <strong>of</strong> system (AUTH, 10/08-12/08)<br />

For each workactivity, the leading partner will coordinate all activities, firstly by initiating the<br />

procedure with an action plan and dedication <strong>of</strong> work, then carrying out the work, and finally<br />

preparing the final version <strong>of</strong> the deliverable. The WP leader will also oversee, monitor, and give<br />

feedback on all the activities involved in this WP. More specifically, it was agreed that the<br />

following actions be taken with respect to this WP:<br />

For WP2.1 (Responsible partner UP, plus all other partners):<br />

o Carry out analysis <strong>of</strong> requirements for a standardised content repository and investigate<br />

platforms that are available.<br />

o Review <strong>of</strong> content repositories supporting Healthcare LOM and SCORM<br />

o Platform to support WP2 can be investigated in conjunction with WP1.<br />

o Compatibility with the Moodle platform that was the main platform for the IntraMEDnet<br />

project has to be very seriously taken into consideration. More specifically, the possibility<br />

<strong>of</strong> using Moodle v1.9 supporting the actions prescribed under both WP1 and WP2 has to<br />

be investigated.<br />

o Additional content repository platforms to be considered include:<br />

o eRib<br />

o Labyrinth: Repository on Virtual Patients<br />

o MDPixx<br />

o DSpace.<br />

o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.<br />

For WP2.2 (Responsible partner AUTH, plus all other partners):<br />

o List <strong>of</strong> WideMEDnet courses will be created based on the courses developed in<br />

IntraMEDnet (table available in Deliverable 4.2). Platfrom instructions on how to deploy<br />

a course in the selected platform will be prepared.<br />

o Courses will be deployed in the selected platform.<br />

o IntraMEDnet courses to be uploaded will be SCORM compliant.<br />

o IntraMEDnet courses to be uploaded will be using LOM Healthcare Descriptors.<br />

o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.<br />

2.4 WP3 Promotion activities and dissemination <strong>of</strong> results<br />

UP as coordinator <strong>of</strong> WP3 presented a summary <strong>of</strong> the objectives and activities <strong>of</strong> this WP. More<br />

specifically, it was agreed that the following actions be taken with respect to this WP:<br />

o A brochure <strong>of</strong> the project and the courses available should be prepared.<br />

o A small demo video to be available in YouTube and the project’s website will be<br />

prepared.<br />

o Workshop on eLearning similar to the one organised by UCY on Oct. 15 th , 2008, will be<br />

organised pilot to the Thesalloniki meeting, Dec. 4 th , 2008, by AUTH. Similar events<br />

related to the activities <strong>of</strong> the project will be carried out by all partners.<br />

o All promotional and dissemination material will be made immediately available in the<br />

project’s website (www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/widemednet).<br />

o Draft deliverable will be prepared and presented in the Thesalloniki meeting.<br />

2.5 WP4 Project Management<br />

UCY as coordinator <strong>of</strong> WP4 presented a summary <strong>of</strong> the objectives and activities <strong>of</strong> this WP.<br />

The two workactivities <strong>of</strong> this WP are leaded by UCY. WP4 consists <strong>of</strong> the following<br />

workactivities:<br />

o WP4.1 <strong>Kick</strong> <strong><strong>of</strong>f</strong> and final meetings<br />

o WP4.2 Preparation <strong>of</strong> reports and communication with MA and partners.<br />

UCY will undertake to carry out all the necessary actions to facilitate the soonest signature <strong>of</strong> the<br />

contract, organise the kick-<strong><strong>of</strong>f</strong> and final meetings, and coordinating all the project management<br />

steps <strong>of</strong> the project.<br />

UCY will monitor financial progress and prepare the financial report, monitor technical progress<br />

and prepare technical reports. UCY will coordinate the preparation and the final submission <strong>of</strong><br />

these reports, as requested by the INTERREG III B ARCHIMED <strong><strong>of</strong>f</strong>ice.<br />

Communication with the Managing and Financial Authorities, i.e. the INTERREG III B<br />

ARCHIMED <strong><strong>of</strong>f</strong>ice, will be carried out in the context <strong>of</strong> WP4, by the Coordinator, UCY.<br />
