day ended just a few tenths back of the leaders with another spectacular
trip to the podium.
Terry Nash and Glen Parsons were the two Masters competitors and
they shared the track with Cameron Parsons in ICC. Nash’s home track
advantage was prevalent, but Parsons learned a lot by following the
local driver. Nash, even with a spin managed to bring this one home
without much of a problem. Cameron Parsons improved his lap times
from yesterday and finished first in ICC.
David Lowe posted the low time in HPV qualifying, but it was
Derek Zimmerman, or “Derelique”, as we just now learned, who led
them down to the finish in the prefinal. The final race of the 2006 season
didn’t have much action in the way of lead changes, but Matt Jones,
and Travis and David Lowe made the fight for second interesting. Jones
was relegated back to fourth as the Lowes went at it in the final laps.
Derelique was well up the road and had no tech issues today, making
for a much happier boy. Travis managed to beat out brother David for
second place, but both joined teammate Zimmerman on the podium.
So concluded the 2006 WKA George Kugler Manufacturers Cup
West presented by ekartingnews.com. It was certainly a year of learning,
a year of rebuilding, and a year of renewed dedication to the local racers.
Banquet plans are already underway and will be announced soon, as
well as next year’s schedule. Big things are to come for this series next
year. Expect to see entries continue to grow, coverage on ekartingnews.
