Message from the Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker<br />

Christchurch is proud to once again be hosting this exciting event<br />

on our city streets. This is not just a brilliant race – it’s also a fun<br />

recreational ride where cyclists can get alongside and be inspired<br />

by the best cycling athletes New Zealand has to offer. And even<br />

though this is a great race, it’s also a summer fun day for all the<br />

family. So come along, enjoy the entertainment and watch the<br />

race. With over 130,000 people participating in cycling each year in<br />

Christchurch, this event has become an important one for cyclists<br />

and Cantabrians – so let’s all get out there and enjoy the ride.<br />

Message from BikeNZ Road & Track President Ivan Aplin<br />

Welcome to the 2012 Calder Stewart Elite Road National<br />

Championships. We thank the Christchurch City Council for<br />

their support once again. 2013 will bring out yet again the<br />

many hundreds of volunteers that unselfishly give their time<br />

to the sport, we value your contribution. BikeNZ Road and<br />

Track extend our appreciation to Calder Stewart, new principal<br />

sponsor for the event and long term supporters of cycling. To the<br />

athletes we wish you every success for safe and exciting races.<br />

Race with distinction and good sportsmanship and look forward<br />

to seeing 3 worthy champions. All the best,<br />
