For genset applications<br />

The principal task for a change-over switch is the<br />

management of the different power supplies and<br />

to guarantee the continuity of performance. The<br />

change-over switch ensures the switching and isolation<br />

between the primary network supply and the<br />

alternate network supply or a standby generator.<br />

Mechanically interlocked<br />

Two switch disconnectors which are mechanically interlocked into each other<br />

compose a change-over switch. The mechanical interlock prevents, in all possible<br />

circumstances, a parallel connection of the two supplies, even in case of transient<br />

voltages.<br />

Construction<br />

The concept of the change-over switch range is;<br />

two switch disconnectors, mechanically interlocked<br />

side by side (ratings 16 to 125A) and two switch<br />

disconnectors, mechanically interlocked with two<br />

layers (ratings 200 to 1600A).<br />

The switches are equipped with three stable positions<br />

(I-0-II) and the isolations of the two power<br />

supplies are guaranteed by the positive contact<br />

opening function and the reliable position indication.<br />

The change-over switch offers optimal functional<br />

safety and reliability which is imperative for a<br />

device on which the operational continuity of an<br />

electrical installation is dependant.<br />

Keeps its position even in supply failures<br />

The switch disconnector is equipped with two<br />

stable positions and is independent of external<br />

alimentation. In operations there is no risk of an<br />

unexpected opening of the switch due to loss of<br />

alimentation and no alimentation is necessary to<br />

keep the switch in the closed position.<br />

The isolation of the circuits is assured by the<br />

positive contact opening function and the reliable<br />

position indication.<br />

Two operation options<br />

Manual operation: this is the simplest type of operation,<br />

using a handle that can be fixed directly<br />

onto the switch, to the panel board or to the door<br />

of the panel board. This type of operation needs<br />

human intervention and consequently the operation<br />

time between the two supplies extends.<br />

Motorised operation: this is the most<br />

implemented operation, no human participation<br />

is needed for the intervention, and consequently<br />

the operation time between the normal and the<br />

alternate supply is short.<br />

that the handle cannot indicate the off position if one of<br />

the contacts has been welded together.<br />
