The five-cylinder D4 and D3 turbodiesels take performance, fuel efficiency and<br />
refinement to new levels. Featuring the latest turbo and Piezo high-pressure injector<br />
technology, these inspiring five-cylinder state-of-the-art power plants will give you<br />
access to supreme torque (max 400 or 350 Nm) across the rev range. Smooth running<br />
characteristics and low noise levels further enhance the experience. Short stroke and<br />
reduced friction add to both responsive, sporty engine characteristics and high fuel<br />
efficiency (5.1 l/100 km and 134 g CO 2 per km). To further optimise fuel efficiency<br />
in all conditions, these engines also feature Volvo’s CO 2-reducing brake energy<br />
regeneration technology. A maintenance-free particle filter effectively reduces soot<br />
particles in exhaust gases and advanced emission control contributes to low nitrogen<br />
oxide levels. Choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed Geartronic<br />
automatic that also allows manual gearshifts.<br />

115 hp/270 Nm all-aluminium D2 turbodiesel features high-precision Piezo injectors,<br />
Start/Stop technology, engine brake energy charging and lightweight materials to meet<br />
the highest demands of energy efficiency and performance. Helping you save precious<br />
fuel in stop-and-go city traffic, the engine shuts off when you put the gear in neutral<br />
when stationary and instantly restarts at the press of the clutch pedal. A gearshift<br />
indicator helps you drive in the most efficient way. Advanced diesel engine technology<br />
such as common-rail direct injection and variable turbine geometry provides high<br />
torque across the rev range to ensure a rewarding driving experience in all conditions.<br />
The engine’s low weight contributes to low fuel consumption and well-balanced<br />
road behaviour. The engine is mated to a manual six-speed gearbox. The D2 is also<br />
available in a variant without Start/Stop technology, which means somewhat higher<br />
fuel consumption, though with CO 2 emissions still below 120 g/km. A maintenancefree<br />
