INTRODUCTION<br />
The <strong>CEL</strong> range of feeder pillars has been tried and tested in an extensive variety of applications<br />
and conditions to prove their durability against the elements and the rigours of all urban and rural<br />
environments. <strong>CEL</strong> provides one of the most comprehensive ranges of feeder pillars, both shells<br />
and pre-wired with distribution equipment, in the UK market, with a range of sizes and options to<br />
suit a wide variety of applications.<br />
The range includes Mini pillars manufactured from 3mm mild steel to Maxi double door pillars<br />
manufactured from 5mm mild steel. <strong>Pillars</strong> are also manufactured in Grade 304 or 316 stainless<br />
steel and GRP. Standard finish is hot dipped galvanised to BSEN ISO 1461, but<br />
all pillars can be powder coated to RAL or BS colours with options of anti-graffiti<br />
and HA specifications.<br />
<strong>CEL</strong> are committed to providing excellent quality and service and have made a<br />
deliberate investment in finished stock to ensure the promptest delivery times.<br />

<strong>CEL</strong> pride themselves on the manufacture of quality, safe products which are fit for purpose, and as part of this<br />
commitment have a dedicated in-house team to design, build and test pre-wired distribution equipment to BSEN<br />
60439-1, Low Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Assemblies. The pre-wiring of <strong>CEL</strong> distribution pillars ensures that<br />
on-site installation time by the contractor is kept to the absolute minimum.<br />
It is the responsibility of this team to work very closely both with our own Sales Managers and the end customer, to<br />
ensure that the final product will meet both the customer’s requirement and be successfully tested and certified to<br />

Project Specific Bespoke Solutions<br />
<strong>CEL</strong> also offer a design service, working with the client from the conception of a project to<br />
delivery.<br />
Everybody in the Supply Chain has a responsibility to ensure that the product is safe, from the<br />
specifier, to <strong>CEL</strong> as the manufacturer, to the installer.<br />
All <strong>CEL</strong> distribution equipment is designed, manufactured and tested to BSEN 60439-1. A<br />
design is prepared under instruction from the Specifier who receives a CAD drawing giving<br />
details of layout, together with a unique reference which can be used in the<br />
specification documentation.<br />
When a project comes to construction phase, Design and Assembly work closely together to<br />
ensure build complies with the design. Quality systems under ISO 9001:2008 are followed<br />
throughout the manufacture.<br />
On completion, all distribution equipment is tested using calibrated instruments, with the<br />
results being recorded. All assemblies are inspected both mechanically and electrically.<br />
Electrical continuity of the protective circuits is checked.<br />
A Certificate of Type Test is produced and included in the O&M Manual supplied with the<br />
product.<br />
To provide full traceability, all completed distribution<br />
pillars are supplied complete with a name plate<br />

Case Study<br />
Riverside Resource Recovery Facility<br />
Location: South Bank of River Thames, Belvedere<br />
The RRR Facility is an energy recovery plant planned as an alternative to a<br />
landfill site. The facility is a river-served recovery plant with waste delivered<br />
by barges and tugs. The plant generates its own power and exports power to<br />
the National Grid.<br />
Specification: A bespoke feeder pillar, with a footprint of<br />
2800mm x 900mm, consisting of two standard feeder cubicles in a ‘back to<br />
back’ arrangement to service the following:<br />
General Power<br />
Sub Mains Circuit<br />
Low voltage 110V centre tapped earth socket outlets/connection units<br />
General area lighting and floodlighting<br />
Jetty Navigational Lighting and Emergency Lighting<br />
The pillar was to be sited on a jetty. Therefore it was recommended that<br />
it be fabricated in 5mm 316 grade stainless steel to suit the marine<br />
environment. Electrical distribution panels to be in modular polycarbonate,<br />
IP65 enclosures, with the following general specification:<br />

Design: After much discussion between <strong>CEL</strong> Designer and Consultant, a<br />
design was agreed, a unique product reference, PQ2909, allocated and<br />
outline drawings prepared and submitted to the client. The job subsequently<br />
went out to tender and prices were submitted by contractors.<br />
Manufacture: Once the formal order was received, detailed circuit<br />
diagrams were prepared and submitted for approval. Several design<br />
changes occurred as the project progressed and once final design was<br />
approved, fabrication of the pillar and assembly of the electrical equipment<br />
began.<br />
Testing: Carried out to BSEN 60439-1. Because of the very special<br />
requirements for this project the customer sent a representative to witness<br />
the test.<br />
Delivery: Due to the nature of the site and the product, a specific delivery<br />
date and time was arranged.<br />
