ADVISING NOTES:
1. The Bachelor of Science degree with a Nursing major at CSUF requires a minimum of 127-131 semester
units of which a maximum of 70 semester units can be from the community colleges. Students may not
elect CR/NC graded coursework to satisfy major, major G.E., or major additional requirements unless the
course has been designated CR/NC only. If there are lower division requirements which FCC does not
offer, they must be taken after transfer to CSUF. If there is a “break” in your attendance, you will be
required to fulfill current CSUF catalog requirements. Consult the CSUF catalog for complete degree
requirements. Contact your counselor if you have questions.
2. Students will be admitted both fall and spring semesters. This major is impacted and admission is very
competitive, based on the criteria outlined below.
3. GPA of 3.0 or above in completed prerequisites. Only two courses can be repeated (once each) to improve
the GPA. Please note: C grades can NOT be repeated.
Lower Division corresponds to freshman and sophomore years of college.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION AND ADMISSION TO THE NURSING PROGRAM:
1. Prior to applying to the Nursing Program, students must pass the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with a score of
75%. Students receiving a score of less than 75% will be allowed to retake the exam twice, but this must be done prior to their
application. For TEAS information, see www.atitesting.com.
2. Students are eligible to apply to the major when two natural sciences and two other prerequisites will be completed by the end
of the second semester prior to admission and all eight prerequisites with a minimum "C" grade in each course by the end of
the semester prior to admission. Applicants must also meet the following requirements:
a. GPA of 3.0 or above in completed prerequisites. Only two courses can be repeated (once each) to improve the GPA.
b. As with all CSU impacted majors, students must file both the CSU (available February 1 for Fall admission, or July 1 for
Spring admission), and the Nursing Program Applications (March 1-31 for Fall admission, or August 1-31 for Spring
admission). All nursing application required documents must also be submitted during the initial filing month, November or
August. Nursing application on-line at www.csufresno.edu/nursing.
3. Admission to the Nursing Program is based primarily on the eight prerequisite courses marked with an "*" above. All
prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better (no CR/NC grades), with a GPA of 3.0 or better in all
prerequisites.
4. Specific health criteria must be met, see the CSUF Catalog.
5. Application and admission requirements listed here are incomplete; students must obtain current program information from the
CSUF Nursing Department. Call 559-278-5027, or see www.csufresno.edu/nursing.
6. MATH 11 taken at FCC will meet major requirement as well as B4 in GE.
CSU FRESNO ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The California State University requires a total of 60 transferable units for admission, including at least 30 units of general education requirements. All
of General Education Area A & B4 must be completed for a letter grade; C or higher for transfer. Students must obtain the CSU General Education
requirement sheet so that they can plan their transfer program (both major and GE requirements) at FCC appropriately. A request for certification
should be made when requesting final transcripts upon transfer.
See a counselor regularly for assistance as you plan to meet transfer requirements.
