NOTES:<br />

1. The Liberal Studies major is for students pursuing a general-purpose associate degree. Most students will use the Liberal Studies major<br />

to transfer to a four-year university ready to continue for a multi-subject teaching credential. The Liberal Studies major for elementary<br />

teaching can result in a bachelor’s degree and a preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. COURSES SELECTED FOR THE<br />

MAJOR DEPENDS UPON THE FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTION THE STUDENT PLANS TO ATTEND.<br />

2. The major requires completion of 35-37 units with a “C” or better grade in each course. The remaining units should total 60 semester<br />

units minimum with a 2.0 or better GPA. THESE UNITS SHOULD INCLUDE TRANSFERABLE COURSES REQUIRED FOR<br />

THE MULTI-SUBJECT CREDENTIAL SPECIFIC TO YOUR TRANSFER UNIVERSITY IN CONSULATION WITH A<br />

COUNSELOR. See the FCC catalog that applies to you for associate degree requirements.<br />

3. The courses specified are to help prepare students to pass the state approved California Subject Exam for Teachers (CSET) which is<br />

required for all elementary education teachers in California.<br />

4. Admission to the CSU requires “C” grades in CSU GE Area A and B4, and in six (6) additional A-E courses. A minimum 2.67 GPA is<br />

required to enter all credential programs at CSU <strong>Fresno</strong>.<br />

5. The CLAD is now the “English Learner Authorization,” and is all upper division. The program does not require foreign language;<br />

however, the BCLAD program is still active.<br />

6. It is recommended that students take and pass the CBEST Exam as soon as they have completed ENGL 1A and MATH 10A.<br />

7. The Associate Degree requires completion of the major (61-71 units) with a “C” or better grade in each course plus the completion of<br />

the General Associate Degree requirements – basic competencies, physical education/Dance, and lifetime physical and mental wellness<br />

– and General Education requirements for a total of 60 semester units minimum with a 2.0 or better GPA.<br />
