Endowment Funds<br />
The Office of Institutional Advancement is proud to oversee a growing number of named endowment<br />
funds that have been established to provide financial assistance in perpetuity to students who wish<br />
to attend <strong>La</strong> <strong>Salle</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>. In most instances, the individuals who established these funds<br />
outlined specific criteria for disbursing the annual interest earnings on the funds. These funds have<br />
been established by alumni, parents and friends of <strong>La</strong> <strong>Salle</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>.<br />
Named Endowment<br />
Funds as of August<br />
of 2008<br />
The A. Edward Allinson ’52 Grant Fund, established in 1999,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The Alumni Association Grant Fund, established in 1997, provides<br />
financial assistance to sons and grandsons of alumni.<br />
The Brother Andrew Bartley, FSC Scholarship Fund, established<br />
in 1997, provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The James and Barbara Basile Grant Fund, established in 1998<br />
by James Basile, Esq., ’82 to honor his parents and provide financial<br />
assistance to students from the Roxborough area of Philadelphia.<br />
The Robert S. Blasi Family Trust Fund, established in 1987<br />
by the Hon. and Mrs. Robert S. Blasi, funds the Principal’s Medal<br />
at graduation for the senior with the highest scholastic average<br />
for four years.<br />
The Amadio Buccini ’59 Scholarship Fund, established in 2001,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The Phil and Jane Cassidy Financial Aid Endowment Fund,<br />
established in 2001, provides financial assistance to students<br />
demonstrating need.<br />
The Beatrice Dachowski Trust Fund, established in 1983 by<br />
Dr. Edward Dachowski, in memory of his wife, Beatrice, provides an<br />
annual award to a graduating senior who best exemplifies the<br />
principles of St. John Baptist de <strong>La</strong> <strong>Salle</strong> and the Christian Brothers.<br />
The D’Alfonso Family Scholarship Fund, established in 1998 by<br />
Bro. John D’Alfonso, FSC ’55 to honor his parents, John and Anna,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The James and Mary Jo Danella Grant Fund, established<br />
in 1999, provides financial assistance to students from the<br />
Conshohocken area.<br />
The Richard D. DiBella ’71 Grant Fund, established in 2006,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The David T. Diehl ’55 Scholarship Fund, established in 2002,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The Donahue-Fitzpatrick Endowment Fund, established<br />
in 2006, provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need<br />
with special consideration to candidates from Philadelphia and<br />
St. William Parish.<br />
The Saint Katherine Drexel Scholarship Fund, established in<br />
1998, provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need<br />
from the Gesu <strong>School</strong> and / or surrounding neighborhoods in<br />
North Philadelphia.<br />
The Charles and Gertrude Dunleavy Grant Fund, established<br />
by Charles Dunleavy ’61 in honor of his parents. This fund provides<br />
financial assistance to students from the Wyndmoor area.<br />
The Joseph Vincent Dunton Grant Fund, established in 2007,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need<br />
with special consideration to candidates who are sons or grandsons<br />
of Philadelphia Police Officers primarily and Philadelphia Fire<br />
Fighters secondarily.<br />
The Robert J. Durney ’57 Endowment Fund, established in 2007,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need with<br />
special consideration to candidates of African-American descent<br />
graduating from St. Malachy <strong>School</strong>.<br />
The James G. Dwyer ’53 Scholarship Fund, established in 1999,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The John Feeny ’64 Trust Fund, established in 1979 in his memory<br />
by his sisters and brothers, provides financial assistance to students<br />
demonstrating need.<br />
The J.P. Fenningham ’93 Grant Fund provides financial assistance<br />
to students demonstrating need.<br />
The John “Tex” Flannery ’40 Trust Fund, established in<br />
1983 by friends of this distinguished alumnus and longtime football<br />
coach, on the occasion of his 25th year as a coach at <strong>La</strong> <strong>Salle</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>.<br />
The Christopher P. Haley ’86 Grant Fund, established in 2006,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The Hathaway Grant Fund provides financial assistance to students<br />
demonstrating need.<br />
The Clark J. Hopkins ’62 Scholarship Fund, established in 2007,<br />
provides financial assistance to students demonstrating need with<br />
special consideration to candidates who demonstrate a true sense of<br />
the meaning and value of friendship.<br />
The Hughes Family Grant Fund provides financial assistance to<br />
students demonstrating need.<br />
The Rev. Anthony W. Janton Scholarship Fund, established in<br />
2008, in honor of Father’s affiliation as a Christian Brother, provides<br />
financial assistance to students demonstrating need.<br />
The John J. Kane Trust Fund, established in 1986 by<br />
John E. Kane ’75 in memory of his father, provides financial<br />
assistance to fatherless boys.
