14 St<strong>and</strong>ing Committee Chairmen<br />

As each committee sat it elected a chairman to head up <strong>the</strong> discussion. Later at <strong>the</strong> plenary session<br />

for Society Business each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> chairmen were presented to <strong>the</strong> main body for ratification <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

post.<br />

<strong>International</strong> Ga<strong>the</strong>rings Ceann - Cath Iain M McFie, Scotl<strong>and</strong>.<br />

Vision <strong>and</strong> Special projects - John Rosser, USA This committee is an amalgamation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Vision <strong>and</strong> Monuments <strong>and</strong> Special Project teams, Vanessa King <strong>Macfie</strong> had previously informed<br />

<strong>the</strong> Ceann Cath that she wished to resign her position as chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> M & S P Committee.<br />

Nomenclature - Andrew Duffy<br />

Keeper <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong> Records - Keith McAfee USA. Keith would hold this post, but <strong>the</strong> records<br />

would remain in Scotl<strong>and</strong>, under <strong>the</strong> guardianship <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ceann Cath.<br />

Music Dance <strong>and</strong> The Arts - Bob McFie Scotl<strong>and</strong>. Martha Traylor is very ill <strong>and</strong> unable to<br />

continue as <strong>the</strong> Chairman <strong>of</strong> this Committee.<br />

Genealogy - Nancyanne Carkeek USA<br />

Historian - Sheila Duffy Engl<strong>and</strong> Sheila had not submitted a report. However she has had two<br />

changes <strong>of</strong> residence this year <strong>and</strong> this may have caused <strong>the</strong> oversight.<br />

Legal - Ian McPhee - Australia.<br />

The nominations for <strong>the</strong> various Committee Chairmen were put to <strong>the</strong> main body <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Parliament<br />

<strong>and</strong> were accepted by acclamation.<br />

15 The DNA Project<br />

Rod McDuff, who had been managing <strong>the</strong> project, wrote apologizing for not being able to attend<br />

<strong>the</strong> Ga<strong>the</strong>ring. He has, however, sent a detailed report, copies <strong>of</strong> which are in <strong>the</strong> delegates folder.<br />

In his detailed report Rod concludes that <strong>the</strong> aims <strong>and</strong> objectives <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Project have been satisfied,<br />

though he still encourages any who have not had <strong>the</strong>ir DNA tested to go ahead <strong>and</strong> do so. He in<br />

<strong>the</strong> mean time will continue to manage <strong>the</strong> study, but is hopeful <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong> <strong>Macfie</strong> will take over <strong>the</strong><br />

running <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> project.<br />

We extend our thanks to Rod for his sterling work in <strong>the</strong> management <strong>of</strong> this project.<br />

16 Completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>Clan</strong> <strong>and</strong> Society Business.<br />

<strong>Clan</strong> Trust. Ian McPhee (Aus), Chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Legal Committee made <strong>the</strong> following motion<br />

“The <strong>Clan</strong> authorizes <strong>Clan</strong> Comm<strong>and</strong>er Iain Morris McFie to take whatever action is necessary so<br />

that a trust may be established as a legal entity for <strong>Clan</strong> <strong>Macfie</strong>. Fur<strong>the</strong>r this parliament directs <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Clan</strong> Comm<strong>and</strong>er Iain Morris McFie to submit an initial written progress report to <strong>Clan</strong><br />

Commissioners <strong>and</strong> <strong>Clan</strong> Society Presidents by 31st December 2009 <strong>and</strong> that <strong>the</strong>reafter progress<br />

reports every six (6) months on <strong>the</strong> progress being made regarding authorization.” Motion was<br />

seconded <strong>and</strong> approved by Parliament.<br />
