<strong>Clan</strong> <strong>Macfie</strong> Genealogy Committee <strong>Report</strong>, 4 September 2009<br />

1. The following committee members were present at meetings on 3 <strong>and</strong> 4 September 2009:<br />

2. It was agreed to add a genealogy link to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong> <strong>Macfie</strong> website.<br />

3. We will open a Facebook account for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong> <strong>Macfie</strong>. It will include:<br />

A. A set up page on how to start researching your family history (with help from Glen<br />

Ca<strong>the</strong>y).<br />

A. There will be a page for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).<br />

B. There will be a page for links to research databases, charts <strong>and</strong> publications.<br />

C. There will be a page for problem solving, questions, etc.<br />

4. Discussed how to proceed with links <strong>and</strong> pages <strong>and</strong> came up with several ideas, but no final<br />

plan. More to follow.<br />

5. Elected Nancyanne Carkeek as Chairperson.<br />

1. Discussed meeting on line (live on <strong>the</strong> internet, instant messaging, etc.) more than every 4<br />

years. Schedule to be established.<br />

2. Discussed various information sources such as: www.ukyellowpages.co.uk; go to<br />

“Genealogy at Edinburgh.” Also suggested sites such as <strong>the</strong> Mormon site:<br />

familysearch.org; <strong>and</strong> raogk.org (R<strong>and</strong>om Acts <strong>of</strong> Genealogical Kindness). Daughters <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> American Revolution Library is also a good source.<br />

3. Nancyanne stated she has 5 volumes <strong>of</strong> Mayflower descendant records. She also<br />

recommended “Legacy” as an excellent s<strong>of</strong>tware program for keeping records.<br />

4. The Committee will interface with Glen Ca<strong>the</strong>y (geca<strong>the</strong>y@gmail.com) who heads <strong>the</strong><br />

Internet Committee <strong>and</strong> is setting up a web page.<br />

5. Contributions are not confined to those on <strong>the</strong> committee. We wish to seek material from<br />

any <strong>and</strong> every member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong>, <strong>Clan</strong> Societies worldwide <strong>and</strong> any friendly supporters.<br />
