Christmas Dinner
A Big Hit Once
Again
Merry
Christmas
10 InsideOut December 2011
Christmas is the time for
happiness, family and warmth
and the CTC certainly tick the
boxes when they open their
doors with open arms as the
beautiful sound of the school
band play Christmas songs to
greet the communities Senior
Citizens, for the Annual Christmas
Dinner each December. The
crowds come in their masses
to celebrate this fantastic time
of year with their friends and
neighbours. The event is set in
the wonderful world of the CTC
with the meal presented in the
canteen and the entertainment
staged in the school hall. As an
extra treat the school give the
guests an enchanting Christmas
Grotto.
Since it started in 2003 the event
has developed dramatically
over the years, the amount of
people that attend has risen
dramatically rising from about
50 in the first year to 180 in 2010
last year. In an interview with the
head organizer of the event Lee
Fletcher stated that the event as
a whole is “far more polished.” It
was Lee Fletcher who thought
of the idea initially as he said
“he used to do it when he was
at school.” With the initial date
of the event set in the spring, a
lot of time and effort goes into
making this event a night to be
proud of. It roughly costs £1400
some of which are donations
to create the event. During the
same interview Lee Fletcher
said that his favorite part of the
evening is “seeing the guests at
the end, leaving with a smiling
face”, he went on to say that
he thinks that the parts of the
evening favored by the seniors is
the Show and the bingo. By Daisy
