The English
Department
All Year 9 students were invited to take part in an
exciting opportunity to put pen to paper in a bid to
win cash prizes. Students were given an artistic license
to produce a piece that displayed original ideas, a high
degree of technical skill and, above all else, creativity!
Escape
The train station was as barren as a desert but nowhere near as beautiful. Instead of
a glowing, golden orb of luminous flame, grey skies and miserable rain soaked me to the skin
like an ice bath.
The dull, grimy walls matched the sky and looked cold, leak and unforgiving, like
where I was going. My stomach knotted as tightly as a noose, suffocating me.
Litter lay in piles; an art gallery for flies. It reminded me of a ransacked library,
strewn across the platform and flapping desperately in the wind.
The man silently placed his firm, clammy hands in my hips to lift me onto the train;
my feet were bound in chains.
The chair was unwelcoming and sullen, refusing to accommodate me
comfortably.
The train creaked and groaned, sounding eerily like a wailing child.
My predicament grew closer.
The silence was deafening.
