Our professional tutors will train you in many aspects of health care and give you an<br />

insight into all of the different directions you can take in this sector.<br />

Course Content<br />

Exploring health and social services through practical training, work observation,<br />

industry visits and guest speakers will help you take care of others as well as give<br />

insight into own your state of wellbeing. You will complete the St John’s Workplace<br />

First Aid Certificate and other courses including:<br />

• Introduction to Health & Social Services • Interpersonal Communication<br />

• Activities of Daily Living • Human Growth & Development<br />

• Personal Health & Wellness • Career Development.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

You can work with children or adults as a caregiver or support worker in health,<br />

education or social services sectors, or choose to gain further qualifications like the<br />

Certificate in Human Services, Diploma in Enrolled Nursing or the National Certificate<br />

in Mental Health Support Work. Advanced studies include degrees like the Bachelor of<br />

Social Work or the Bachelor of Nursing.<br />

Science & Health*<br />

Our science team will help you understand the different strands of science including<br />

those related to health and the human body.<br />

Course Content<br />

Exploring science through a hands-on approach you will learn fundamental knowledge<br />

and skills in various areas of science including human anatomy, microbiology and<br />

chemistry.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

Successful completion of this certificate, combined with suitable achievement in English<br />

and Mathematics at school, enables you to apply for entry to one of the following<br />

degrees: Bachelor of Medical Imaging and the Bachelor of Applied Science specialising<br />

in Laboratory Technology, Sports & Exercise Science or Physical Activity, Health &<br />

Wellness.<br />

Welding & Structural Steel<br />

Train with our expert tutors and work in small groups to learn techniques for making,<br />

joining and repairing metalwork.<br />

Course Content<br />

In this pre trade course you will complete 60 hours work experience and learn key<br />

welding skills as well as:<br />

• interpreting drawings and making calculations • recognising and setting machinery<br />

• thermal cutting • Arc and MIG welding processes • industrial safety processes.<br />

Future Opportunities<br />

You may choose to continue your studies as an apprentice or take a full time study<br />

option with the Certificate in Engineering (Fitting Turning & Tool Making) and the<br />

National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering which will see you qualified to study<br />

for the National Certificate in Engineering Level 4 in the fields of either: mechanical,<br />

engineering, heavy or light fabrication or steel construction.<br />
