comfort measures and labor support and is a great refresher option. Postpartum topics<br />

What is offered in Basic Academic Skills?<br />
• Learning Center classes in basic reading, writing, and math, GED preparation,<br />
Accuplacer preparation, computer literacy, and ESL. Instructional<br />
methods include individual, group, and computer-aided instruction.<br />
• English as a Second Language classes at all levels.<br />
• I-BEST programs that allow students to start preparing for their career<br />
while still working on their GED, basic skills, or ESL.<br />
Who can enroll in Basic Academic Skills?<br />
Anyone who is 16 years of age or older and not enrolled in high school who<br />
needs instruction in reading, writing, math, or ESL below the level of high<br />
school competition is eligible to enroll.<br />
What is the cost?<br />
Tuition of $25.00 per quarter is required for ALL ABE, GED, and ESL classes.<br />

GED PREPARATION & TESTING<br />
GED Testing<br />
<strong>BTC</strong> offers GED testing to those who are eligible from our community. Note: The<br />
Assessment Center has temporarily relocated to Morse Center 212. Individuals arriving<br />
for testing are to park in the visitor lot in front of the <strong>College</strong> Services Building, sign in<br />
for parking and then walk over to Morse Center. Maps are available.<br />
GED candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Those less than 19 years of age must<br />
bring a completed Request for Approval to Test form (available at high schools) signed by<br />
the designated employee at their former high school, usually the principal or assistant<br />
principal. Candidates must also present government issued photo identification before<br />
testing.<br />
There is a $75 fee for the five tests, payable to the <strong>BTC</strong> Cashier, <strong>College</strong> Services Building.<br />
There is a $10 fee per exam for retesting if required. You must submit a written cancellation<br />
request prior to taking 1st test for a 100% refund. No refunds after one or more<br />
tests have been taken.<br />
Contact Admissions & Advising at 360-752-8345 for more information, or to sign up<br />
for each test at least one day in advance of testing. Four or five appointments are usually<br />
needed to complete testing. (Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Writing).<br />
Reading and Social Studies may be taken during the same test session. Math cannot be<br />
the first test taken.<br />
Note: You will need to arrive 30 minutes early on the day of the first test session to<br />
complete additional paperwork.<br />
