Teanet brings broadband services to rural northern Italy
The City of Mantua Council and Teanet select end-to-end
broadband services from Ericsson. Due to sparse population,
telecommunications operators had not yet invested in broadband
services in the area. Residents and businesses were
finding themselves on the wrong side of the digital divide.
Many fixed-line broadband markets display regions
that are too remote or sparsely populated to be of
any economic interest to an operator deploying fiber
networks. Increasingly, these potentially high-growth

MINI-LINK TN is a complete microwave radio link with the
capability of handling PDH, SDH, Ethernet and ATM in the
same node, over the same hop. The scalable edge, repeater
and aggregation nodes make it possible to find an optimized
solution for any site, from one to eighteen modems.
MINI-LINK TN supports network expansion in terms of
increased capacity, new links, and restructuring of topology.
In view of the demand for cost-efficient migration from voice
to data, MIN-LINK TN handles both TDM and packet traffic
in an efficient and flexible way. Quality-of-service for Ethernet
traffic is achieved through capabilities like priority settings,
flow handling with priority awareness, Rapid Spanning Tree
Protection (RTSP).
The scalable architecture of MINI-LINK TN, including Soft
Keys for capacity and functionality upgrade, and the possibility
to do remote reconfigurations, enables easy and cost efficient
network expansion. The radio unit is modulation agile and
can handle all the different modulations.
Market leading reliability maximizes air time delivery and
reduces the need for redundant links, requires less spare
parts and reduces support cost overall. An efficient
management system with advanced fault management is

• ATM aggregation, Ethernet switching, and SDH

packet-optimized radio link.

ServiceOn provides one management solution supporting all
Ericsson Broadband network products. The common management
system architecture and features employed across
the product set minimises the amount of operator training
needed when new elements are added to existing networks.
The comprehensive remote management features enable
substantial savings in terms of more airtime and less site visits
for inventory, upgrades and reconfiguration. The real time
network monitoring facilities allow quick recognition of faults
and speedy measures means increased network uptime.
ServiceOn Microwave is part of the ServiceOn Product
Portfolio and is fully integrated in ServiceOn Network
Manager that provides end-to-end Network Management
for all the transport technologies and supported services
deployed in the network.
ServiceOn Microwave management system
The main aim of ServiceOn for the Microwave portfolio is
to provide comprehensive management support for the
Ericsson Microwave product set. The component based
architecture of the ServiceOn family enables additional
features and network element types to be added to an
existing management deployment by installation of the
corresponding software module. For example selected
SDH optical elements can be managed under ServiceOn
Microwave by installation of a plug-in software package. In
this way a Microwave networks features and services can be
extended to meet new market demands, whilst maintaining
a common management platform.
