Teanet brings broadband services to rural northern Italy<br />
The City of Mantua Council and Teanet select end-to-end<br />
broadband services from Ericsson. Due to sparse population,<br />
telecommunications operators had not yet invested in broadband<br />
services in the area. Residents and businesses were<br />
finding themselves on the wrong side of the digital divide.<br />
Many fixed-line broadband markets display regions<br />
that are too remote or sparsely populated to be of<br />
any economic interest to an operator deploying fiber<br />
networks. Increasingly, these potentially high-growth<br />
areas are discovered by operators using microwave<br />
to quickly and cost-effectively close the “digital<br />
divide” and include the rural areas in the modern<br />

MINI-LINK TN<br />
MINI-LINK TN is a complete microwave radio link with the<br />
capability of handling PDH, SDH, Ethernet and ATM in the<br />
same node, over the same hop. The scalable edge, repeater<br />
and aggregation nodes make it possible to find an optimized<br />
solution for any site, from one to eighteen modems.<br />
MINI-LINK TN supports network expansion in terms of<br />
increased capacity, new links, and restructuring of topology.<br />
In view of the demand for cost-efficient migration from voice<br />
to data, MIN-LINK TN handles both TDM and packet traffic<br />
in an efficient and flexible way. Quality-of-service for Ethernet<br />
traffic is achieved through capabilities like priority settings,<br />
flow handling with priority awareness, Rapid Spanning Tree<br />
Protection (RTSP).<br />
The scalable architecture of MINI-LINK TN, including Soft<br />
Keys for capacity and functionality upgrade, and the possibility<br />
to do remote reconfigurations, enables easy and cost efficient<br />
network expansion. The radio unit is modulation agile and<br />
can handle all the different modulations.<br />
Market leading reliability maximizes air time delivery and<br />
reduces the need for redundant links, requires less spare<br />
parts and reduces support cost overall. An efficient<br />
management system with advanced fault management is<br />
another key to reducing operational cost.<br />
Integrated functionalities include:<br />

system architecture and features employed across<br />
the product set minimises the amount of operator training<br />
needed when new elements are added to existing networks.<br />
The comprehensive remote management features enable<br />
substantial savings in terms of more airtime and less site visits<br />
for inventory, upgrades and reconfiguration. The real time<br />
network monitoring facilities allow quick recognition of faults<br />
