26. IDM Berlin 2012, June 28. – July 01.
The National Paralympic Committee of Germany have the pleasure to invite all federations and
foreign clubs to take part at the Internationale Deutsche Meisterschaften im Schwimmen 2012.
This meet is open to international classified swimmers with a disability from all nations.
It is the responsibility of each nation to ensure they have the proper documentation to enter
Germany. Should visas be required, please contact Ulrike Hentschel at NPC Germany
Headquarter for a letter of support (if required) at hentschel@dbs-npc.de . Please use the attached
form for Visa application.
Please note: NPC Germany wants a letter from your NPC for these requirement.
II. Classification and Training:
The Internationale Deutsche Meisterschaften im Schwimmen are open for swimmers with
impairments only.
Swimmers should enter the meet using their current IPC Swimming classification which may be
found online at http://www.ipc-swimming.org/Classification/Master_List/ .
Swimmer, without an international classification will be allowed to take part with their national
classification. The entering club have to enter the exceptions for these swimmers at the entry portal
in the case of participation with national classification.
Swimmers without classification are allowed to swim in German AB-class (disabled swimmers
without minimal impairment).
PI (Physical Impairment) classification in Berlin:
We can offer the opportunity for international PI classification by IPC Swimming in Berlin.
Classification will be conducted Tuesday and Wednesday, June 26 th and 27 th .
All required classification information must be directed through the IPC Swimming Office. Please
ensure that you communicate directly to the IPC Swimming Classification and ITO Coordinator
(meredith.evans@paralympic.org) on all matters relevant to classification at IDM 2012.
It is the responsibility of the teams to have their swimmers at the classification venue at the right
time.
VI classification in Berlin:
There will be no international VI classification at IDM 2012.
Training:
There is limited training opportunity Monday till Wednesday, Monday only between 10.00 and
18.30, Tuesday and Wednesday between 07.00 and 18.30. There will be a time table for training
times. For training opportunities before Thursday please contact Matthias Ulm
(matthias.ulm@berliner-schwimmteam.de ).
Training is always possible Thursday till Sunday from 7.00 to the end of the final session in the
training pool.
Team Managers Meeting
The Team Managers Meeting will take place Wednesday June 27 th 18.30 at the pool. The meeting
room will be located at the 100m call room right across the diving pool.

IV. Rules:
The competition will be run under IPC – Swimming - rules. The one start rule will apply for the IDM
Swimming.
The Championships are within the NADA and NPC Germany Anti-Doping-Testing-Pool. According
to the ´world anti doping code´ and anti – doping – rules of Germany doping control can be
announced.
Please take care that only FINA approved swim suits will be allowed at the IDM Swimming.
The competition is open for swimmers with a physical, a visual or an intellectual impairment. There
are competitions for the classes S1 - S14 and AB (disabled no minimal handicap) offered. Seeding
will be done according to entry times and independent of classification.
Competitions 800m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley:
There will be only two (2) heats in the events of 800m freestyle and 400 individual medley.
The best 20 entries per event will be accepted by system of 1000 – points.
Multi-disability finals:
The participating swimmers in the multi-disability finals will be found by comparing the achieved
times from the preliminary event by 1000 - point system.
The 10 swimmers best ranked by points will participate in the multi-disability A final. The next 10
swimmers ranked by points will participate in the B final. There will be announced minimum 3
substitutes per final event.
Scratches for multi-disability finals (including substitutes) must be made no later than half an hour
after the results are presented.
We will penalize every “Did not Start” in the finals with 50€ except medical withdrawals.
If there are less than 8 entries for an event announced as prelims/finals that event can be
conducted as direct final in the final session.

Senior classes 1, 2, and 3
Open class: classes S/SB/SM 1 – 14, AB,
• time finals: open class ranking by 1000-point-system
• finals: open finals ranking by 1000-point-system
There will be a sponsored award for the best three performances over all competitions by points
female and male (250€, 150€, 100€). The donation will only delivered directly to the swimmers.
The next ranked swimmer will be entered if a top three ranked swimmer is not at the ceremony.

For all entries use the online-entry-system at the website www.idm-schwimmen.de. The system will
be available at the website from March 2012.
The entry dead line is Wednesday May 23 rd 2012.
Late entries will not be accepted!

The entry fee is: € 80 per swimmer
€ 35 per staff (coaches, medicals, assistance, etc.)
Entry fee do not include accommodation, transport in Berlin and meals!

Again we are planning a Party on Sunday night. All athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers of the
IDM Swimming 2012 are invited to party, dance and meet people from all over the world.
