Economic Development <strong>2011</strong> <strong>SPRING</strong> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT<br />

NEW AND UNDER CONSTRUCTION - COMMERCIAL:<br />

Walmart’s expansion and redevelopment is moving forward on<br />

schedule. Planned completion is fall <strong>of</strong> <strong>2011</strong>. The store will remain<br />

open during construction.<br />

A wine distributorship, MShiraz, is nearing completion <strong>of</strong> its new<br />

facility at the Progress Development Condominiums at 658 North<br />

Progress Drive.<br />

Cramer Coil and Transformer Co. Inc. is completing land acquisition<br />

and aggregation plans to accommodate their first phase <strong>of</strong><br />

building expansion anticipated to begin in summer <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

A new restaurant, The Firehouse is coming to 100 South Main<br />

Street, formerly Patrice’s. Anticipated opening is early May <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

YARD WASTE (COMPOST) DISPOSAL<br />

How do you get rid <strong>of</strong> garden waste, leaves, and lawn rakings from<br />

your spring yard clean-up? Wisconsin DNR strongly recommends<br />

that these materials NOT be placed in the street at any time. Place<br />

them in bags, buckets, or other suitable containers and bring them<br />

to the compost drop-<strong>of</strong>f site at Public Works.<br />

CURBSIDE CHIPPING<br />

The <strong>Village</strong> chipping crew will begin touring the <strong>Village</strong> starting<br />

April 4 th and continuing every Monday through October 31 st .<br />

PLEASE stack branches (3” maximum diameter) neatly on the parkway<br />

(area between the sidewalk and curb), with cut ends <strong>of</strong> the<br />

branches facing the street, by 6:30 a.m. on Monday mornings. DO<br />

NOT place branches on the sidewalk or street. DO NOT place<br />

branches curbside sooner than the immediate preceding weekend.<br />

We DO NOT chip tree stumps. The chipping crew is limited to 20<br />

The Wisconsin Humane Society’s Victoria Wellens Ozaukee<br />

Center, 630 West Dekora Street, had its <strong>of</strong>ficial ribbon-cutting/<br />

grand opening on Saturday, March 26, <strong>2011</strong>. The facility is now<br />

open to the public.<br />

FARMERS MARKET <strong>2011</strong><br />

This year’s Farmers Market will run form June 19 th through October<br />

30 th (closed July 3 & Sept. 4). The market features fresh, inseason<br />

Wisconsin produce grown by area farmers, as well as<br />

greenhouse and floral products, and hand made crafts. Please<br />

support this worthwhile community activity emphasizing “grow local,<br />

buy local, eat local” common sense economics, Sundays - 9:00<br />

a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Veterans Park, Downtown <strong>Saukville</strong>.<br />

make only one pass per side <strong>of</strong> the street per chipping event.<br />

There will be NO BRUSH DROP-OFF accepted at the Compost<br />

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS MATERIALS DISPOSAL<br />

Household hazardous materials are typically comprised <strong>of</strong> paints,<br />

pesticides, waste fuel, anti-freeze, and typical household cleaners.<br />

These materials must NOT be placed in the trash. They can be<br />

taken to the Ozaukee County Hazardous Waste Collection Site<br />

(information below). Fees will be charged on a per pound basis.<br />

Note: Waste oil should be taken to the Ozaukee County Highway<br />

Department, 410 South Spring Street, Port Washington.<br />
