The Kellogg Community College Foundation Art on Campus Initiative
The initiative began in 2004 with the help of the DeVries Art Fund started by
Eleanor and Robert DeVries, longtime KCC associates. The mission of the Art
on Campus Initiative is to provide art experiences on the campuses of KCC
for students, faculty and staff, and for the community at large. A variety of
original works is on display throughout the newly renovated corridors of Kellogg
Community College campus buildings. Artists such as Martin Hubbard, Kate
Demke, Shuichi Murakami, Eleanor DeVries, Lily Hunter, Dee Seymour, and Kay
Randel to name a few, can be viewed on the Battle Creek campus.
The goals of the Art on Campus Initiative are:
• to purchase original, diverse artworks for KCC’s permanent collection and
display in public areas on campus
• to refurbish for display KCC’s existing permanent collection
• to establishment the DeVries Art Lecture Series including at least one
distinguished artist, art historian, etc., per year to provide a lecture/workshop
on an art topic for students and community
• to create community awareness of the initiative through fundraising and
programming activitiessupport possible to ensure the diversity and quality of
services from KCC to the community.
