ACCIDENTS<br />

June 11<br />

7:35 p.m. - According to the accident<br />

report, Linda Aileen Pankow, 63, Algona,<br />

was driving her 2001 Dodge Intrepid<br />

north on Plum Creek Road at the intersec-<br />

tion with 140th Avenue. A 2000 Dodge<br />

Stratus owned by Elaine Helen Philips,<br />

Bancroft, <strong>and</strong> driven by Clinton Philip<br />

Davis, 20, Bancroft, failed to yield at the<br />

intersection <strong>and</strong> struck the Intrepid on the<br />

passenger side of car, causing both vehi-<br />

cles to go in the ditch on the east side of<br />

Plum Creek Road. A sign <strong>and</strong> post owned<br />

by Kossuth County at the intersection of<br />

Plum Creek Road <strong>and</strong> 140th Avenue was<br />

also damaged in the accident. Damage to<br />

the Intrepid was $5,000 <strong>and</strong> the vehicle<br />

was estimated at $5,000 <strong>and</strong> the vehicle<br />

was towed by Algona Frame <strong>and</strong> Body.<br />

Damage to the Stratus was estimated at<br />

$5,000 <strong>and</strong> the vehicle was towed by Al-<br />

gona Frame <strong>and</strong> Body. Davis was cited<br />

for failure to yield.<br />

7:30 p.m. - According to the accident<br />

report, Andrew Jay Goodrich, 42, Dela-<br />

van, Minn., was driving a 1999 Harley<br />

Davidson owned by DeAnna Kay Go-<br />

odrich, Mapleton, Minn., southbound on<br />

Hwy. 169. As he attempted to turn left<br />

from Hwy. 169 to A16, the motorcycle hit<br />

some small stones on roadway, causing<br />

the bike to lose control. The Harley Da-<br />

vidson was laid onto the left side, sliding<br />

into the ditch. Damage to the motorcycle<br />

was estimated at $3,000 <strong>and</strong> was towed<br />

by Nick Camden. Goodrich was trans-<br />

ported to Blue Earth Hospital by the El-<br />

more Ambulance.<br />

June 18<br />

3 p.m. – According to the accident re-<br />

port, Whitney Lee Shellenberg, 18, Wes-<br />

ley, was driving a 1997 Chrysler Concord<br />

owned by Thomas John Shellenberg,<br />

Wesley, northbound on 230th Avenue,<br />

approaching the intersection of Hwy. 18.<br />

As she was driving, she failed to stop at<br />

the stop sign when crossing Hwy. 18. She<br />

struck the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu owned<br />

<strong>and</strong> operated by Martin Daniel Walsh, 23,<br />

24 Linden Drive, Mason City, who was<br />

westbound on Hwy. 18. Damage to the<br />

Concorde was estimated at $4,000 <strong>and</strong><br />

the vehicle was towed privately. Damage<br />

to the Malibu was estimated at $4,000<br />

<strong>and</strong> the vehicle was towed privately. No<br />

injuries were listed in the accident report.<br />

Shellenberg was cited: failure to yield on<br />

entering a through highway.<br />

June 20<br />

4 p.m. – According to the accident re-<br />

port, R<strong>and</strong>y Lee Thompson, 49, Manly,<br />

was driving a 1999 International 8100<br />

owned by D <strong>and</strong> R Enterprises south-<br />

bound on 90th Avenue. He stopped at the<br />

stop sign at the intersection with 210th<br />

Street. Thompson thought this was a<br />

four-way stop, <strong>and</strong> began pulling into<br />

the intersection, failing to yield to the<br />

through traffic. Realizing this, Thompson<br />

slammed on his brakes. A 2006 Chevrolet<br />

Town <strong>and</strong> Country owned <strong>and</strong> operated<br />

by Debra Anne Kajewski, 32, Algona,<br />

was eastbound on 210th Street. Kajewski<br />

took evasive action <strong>and</strong> missed Thomp-<br />

son, entering the south ditch <strong>and</strong> coming<br />

to rest in a field. There was no contact<br />

between vehicles. Damage to the Town<br />

<strong>and</strong> Country was estimated at $5,000 <strong>and</strong><br />

the vehicle was towed by Kemna’s of Al-<br />

gona. Kajewski <strong>and</strong> two passengers were<br />

transferred to Kossuth Regional Health<br />

Center by Algona Ambulance services.<br />

No citations were listed in the report.<br />

ATTENTION HANCOCK COUNTY TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS<br />

CHANGES TO RURAL RECYCLING PROGRAM<br />

Effective after the last recycling collection in June, Waste Manage-<br />

ment will no longer be collecting recyclables from rural Township<br />

residents in Hancock County. This is a decision made by Hancock<br />

County, due to budget constraints. Township residents will still be<br />

able to recycle by bringing their recyclables to drop boxes located<br />

at the County sheds in Klemme, 511 N. Railroad Street; Kanawha,<br />

201 Railroad Street; Miller, 1966 -290th Street; <strong>and</strong> Crystal Lake,<br />

465 State Ave South. There will be recycling drop boxes at these<br />
