Duesey D’Arts
GARNER - The Garner Public Library is currently taking applications for
Duesey D’Arts 2011 art competition and show. The theme is “One World
Many Stories”. There are adult and children’s divisions. The children’s division
is divided up according to age. Judging will take place on July 8.
The show will be open to the public Saturday, July 9 after the Duesey Days
Parade until 3:30 p.m. Applications may be picked up at the Garner Public

Community Blood Drive
KANAWHA - LifeServe Blood Center will have a community blood drive
at Kanawha, Tuesday, July 5, from 1-6 p.m. at the Kanawha Fire Station,
104 South Main Street. Eligible blood donors must be at least 16 years old,
should weigh at least 120 pounds and should be in general good health.

The Hancock County Commission of Veterans Affairs will meet Wednesday,
July 13, 9:30 a.m. in the board of supervisors room of the Hancock

Kanawha Council
accepts bid for
tree removal
KANAWHA - The city council at
Kanawha accepted a bid of $900
from Mike’s Tree Service for removal
of a tree at 402 Elm St.
The council also approved hiring
Mike’s Tree Service to repair the
lights at the tennis court and ball
diamond. The council set a $3,000
spending limit for the light project.
The council tabled action on an estimate
to update fencing at the ball
diamond and on tennis court repairs.
City officials approved the purchase
of a desktop computer for the
police department and set a spending
limit of $1,100.
