Polyclonal Antibody against Drosophila
HP1
Form:
Antiserum
Host:
Rabbit
Species Reactivity:
Drosophila
Drosophila HP1 Polyclonal Antibody
Catalog Number: PRB-291C
Available Size: 0.2 mL
Specificity:
The Drosophila HP1 protein, product of the Su(var)2-5 locus, is a dose-dependent regulator of gene silencing. HP1 interacts
with compacted chromatin (heterochromatin) via its chromodomain (CD). HP1 antisera staining of polytene chromosomes
decorates pericentric heterochromaticn and a banded heterochromatic pattern on the small 4th chromosome. The HP1 protein
is also known to interact with a number of transcriptional regulators via its chromoshadow domain (CSD), suggesting that HP1 is
a bridging factor that couples particular chromatin structures with effects on gene expression. This antibody was raised against
full-length recombinant Drosophila HP1 protein, and has been shown to specifically stain Drosophila polytene chromosomes.
Uses:
This antibody is effective in immunostaining.
Suggested Working Dilution:
The optimal working dilution should be determined for each specific assay condition. This antibody is sold for laboratory
research use only, not for human or in-vivo use. Covance antibodies may not be resold or modified for resale without prior
written approval.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Upon initial thawing, apportion into working
aliquots and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw
cycles to prevent denaturing the antibody. For long-term
storage, keep the antibody at -80°C.
