hope in the future.
Our History
The idea of a Vocational Training
Center for adults with a mental
disability conceptualized when
Maria Santamaria, a special
educator, saw many of her
students ready to leave their
school program at the age of
18, with little or no preparation
to deal with the challenges of
the world outside. The desire to
provide such individuals a place
where they can learn a trade,
earn and gain confidence in a
nurturing environment led to the
setting up of DIYA Foundation
as a registered Trust in March
1999. Today, Diya provides
training and employment
opportunities to 30 intellectually
challenged adults assisted by a
Staff team of 10, four of whom
are physically challenged.
Products manufactured at Diya’s
vocational units are exclusive
and of high quality, on par with
the market.
