1943: the curse of rationing has visited the remote<br />
Hebride<strong>an</strong> isl<strong>an</strong>ds of Little Todday <strong>an</strong>d Great Todday<br />
<strong>an</strong>d the thirsty isl<strong>an</strong>ders have all but run out of uisge<br />
beatha - the water of life.<br />
And it’s not just the whisky drought causing problems,<br />
either. Good Catholic girl Peggy Macroon has fallen for<br />
one of the soldiers stationed on the isl<strong>an</strong>ds, Serge<strong>an</strong>t<br />
Odd, who’s not just English, but Protest<strong>an</strong>t <strong>to</strong> boot!<br />

Wee Free dragon of a mother. And the dragon<br />
herself seems <strong>to</strong>o much in sympathy with the<br />
army authorities for some people’s liking...<br />

When the S.S. Cabinet Minister runs aground with<br />
fifty thous<strong>an</strong>d cases of whisky aboard, the isl<strong>an</strong>ders<br />
rush <strong>to</strong> take adv<strong>an</strong>tage of the unexpected bounty.<br />
But then the officious Captain Waggett, the English<br />
officer comm<strong>an</strong>der of the Home Guard, learns of the<br />
illicit salvage operation – <strong>an</strong>d is ordered <strong>to</strong> confiscate<br />
the liquor!<br />
