Funds from the Mozambique Evening will go toward the establishment of a Casa de Espera or home for
expectant mothers. Each year, medical students from the University of Saskatchewan have the privilege of
learning about culture and determinants of health of the people of Massinga, a small town in Mozambique.
This irreplaceable experience would not be possible without the generosity and kindness of the staff and
people involved with the Training for Health Renewal Center, which is the clinic the students work at in
Massinga each summer. The students are interested in giving back to this community by raising funds for
the creation of the Casa de Espera. We ask that you join us in supporting this worthy cause, which will
benefit the local community of Massinga as well as the medical education at the U of S, while you enjoy
the beautiful and unique artwork of Antonio Tanda, who is from Mozambique. Fundraising activities will
include a silent auction and donations.
