The 2009-2010 academic year was a year of achievement for Santiago Canyon
College. SCC students continued to excel in our classrooms and on the
sports fields; SCC faculty produced important pieces of scholarship and
artistic expression and helped students on their academic and career
paths; and construction continued as we finished building the new Science
Center. remarkably, all of that occurred against a backdrop of one of the
worst national and state economies of modern times.
It has been ten years since Santiago Canyon College was first accredited
as a separate institution. In those ten years of achieving, building,
and creating, SCC has grown to become a major force in orange County
higher education. each year, our annual reports have documented the
transformation of the previous 12 months. with this year’s Annual report,
we thought it would be interesting to provide a look back at the past
decade, an overview, to celebrate ten years of significant events that have
shaped the campus and built a culture of achievement focused on student
learning.
As you read this Annual report, you will see just how far Santiago Canyon
College has come in a short time. Although the past ten years have been
filled with challenges and triumphs, SCC’s future remains bright.
Juan Vázquez,
