Suratul Ma'ida 5:3<br />
At this moment <strong>the</strong> <strong>Prophet</strong> (SAW) pronounced takbeer loudly and <strong>the</strong>n added:<br />
"I thank Allah for having perfected His religion and for having completed His favour and for<br />
His having been pleased with <strong>the</strong> master ship and succession of Ali after me."<br />
Then <strong>the</strong> <strong>Prophet</strong> (SAW) stepped down from <strong>the</strong> pulpit and said to Imam Ali (AS):<br />
"Sit in a tent so that <strong>the</strong> chiefs and distinguished personalities of Islam may shake hands<br />
with you and congratulate you."<br />
The two shaykhs (Abu Bakr & Umar) were <strong>the</strong> first to congratulate Imam Ali (AS) and call<br />
him <strong>the</strong>ir mawla.<br />
