4.2. Applied to intransitive active clauses with subject as experiencer<br />
When na- 'causativiser' is applied to an intransitive active clause with subject as<br />
experiencer, the experiencer role is transferred to the object1 of the derived clause. This is shown<br />
in the following pairs of examples.<br />

ihamahi-ha ada isai<br />
angry-narra dem child<br />
'The child was angry.'<br />
'o-na-ihamahi-ha ada isai<br />
I-causativiser-angry-narra dem child<br />
'I caused the boy to be angry.'<br />
b) asara-ha ada isai<br />
cry-narra dem child<br />
'The child cried.'<br />
'o-na-asara-ha ada isai<br />
I-causativiser-cry-narra dem child<br />
'I caused the child to cry.'<br />
na- may also be applied to a derived intransitive clause with the same derivational<br />
changes which occur when applied to an underived clause.<br />
o-fini-ha ada isai<br />
intranser-fear-narra dem child<br />
'The boy was afraid.'<br />
jomahi-a bi-na-o-fini-ha ada isai<br />
dog-subj it-causativiser-intranser-fear-narra dem child<br />
'The dog frightened the boy.'<br />
4.3. Applied to stative clauses<br />
When na- 'causativiser' is applied to any stative clause it becomes a transitive clause.<br />
The relationship that existed between the subject and verb before the derivation is found between<br />
the verb and object1 in the derived clause. The following two pairs of examples show descriptive<br />
clauses.<br />
