Bedford OWB – Brown (as delivered)
Bedford made this version of the standard Bedford OB
bus, primarily for the War Department, especially for
military use during WWII. This new Oxford tooling of
the OWB comes in the livery as delivered to the Ministry
Bedford MWD – Royal Engineers
This is the first MWD truck to be released in
the new Oxford Military range and represents
the most used transport vehicle by the Allies in
WWII. From late 1939 to 1945,Vauxhall
Motors supplied vast numbers of
these to the armed services, with
over 66, 000 being based on the 15
cwt 4 x 2 MW chassis. The MWD
was the general service truck.
The Oxford version is a replica
of the later version, which had a
closed cab, whereas earlier ones
featured open cabs. With fold
down windscreens, they earned the
name ‘ the pneumonia trucks’.
This particular example is a replica of the truck that
served with 505 Company Royal Engineers, part of the
50th Northumbrian Division, operating particularly from
D-Day to Operation Market Garden at the end of
September 1944, after which it was transferred to Corps

Engineers. It ended the war in Germany, building the
Tyne-Tees bailey bridges over the Rhine. The vehicle has
been restored and you can see it at various military
shows during the season.

Green Goddess - Teesside
The Green Goddess is the familiar name for
the Bedford RLHZ Self Propelled Pump, an
engine used originally by the Auxiliary Fire
Service, as well as by the British Armed
Forces. Its introduction goes back to
1953. This latest Oxford introduction is
a replica of Green Goddess registered
SYH 325,as used by the Teesside Fire
Brigade and is decorated in the
traditional red colour scheme.
Additional detail includes a ladder
in silver, a red bell, blue beacon
and spotlight, all featured on the
roof above the cab. The cab itself
carries the Teesside Fire Brigade crest on
both doors and comes with a black interior.
The Bedford insignia features in red/silver
above the grille, whilst the rear of the vehicle
is decorated in silver with red/white chevrons.

Jaguar XJS – Metropolitan Police
You saw the release of the luxurious Jaguar XJS to your
Oxford collection last month in Signal Red and this
month we have the police version.
The Jaguar XJ-S, which became known as the
XJS in the 1990s, was classed as a luxury
grand tourer, made between 1975 and 1996.
The 2-door coupe was manufactured at the
firm’s Coventry works, where over 115,000
came off the production line before it was
superseded by the XJ8 in 1996.
NEW Mini - BRG Metallic with Union Jack Roof
This new release on the BMW Mini makes a real British
statement! In traditional BRG with a superb metallic
finish, the patriotic theme carries on with the addition
of the Union Flag on the roof. Registered FH08 WKJ,
the detail on this model is superb, right down to the
Mini and Cooper S logos on the rear. Note too, the
extent of the additional black masking round the
windows, front grille and rear bumpers, not to mention
as well the extensive ‘chromework’ and tampo printed rear
light clusters. A great little model for any Mini lover’s line up!

It continued in production until 2003, during which time

Ford 400E Minibus - London Transport
The Ford Thames 400E was a commercial vehicle
made by the Ford Motor Company Limited in
Britain. It was introduced in 1957 and
between then and 1987, when production
ceased, over 187,000 had rolled off the
production line. The vehicle proved
popular for passenger transport use
and as a Minibus, it was able to seat 12
passengers. The body shape also lent
itself very well to its use as a Camper
Van - but that is another story!
London Transport was one Ford 400E
Minibus user and our 1:43 scale model
registered 386 AUU, comes in grey with the
distinctive red London Transport graphics. The
Thames emblem on the front faithfully replicates the
bold format of the original and the model also features
extensive silver masking detail on door handles, window
surrounds and bumpers. Look out too for the tiny but
authentic blue Ford badge on the vehicle. The interior is

Burlingham Sunsaloon – Wallace Arnold Tours Ltd
Wallace Arnold was founded in 1912 by Mr Wallace
Cunningham and Mr Arnold Crowe. Until its merger in
2005 with Shearings, the company was one of the most
famous and prolific coach operators in the UK.
Our model in red and buttermilk is registered LNW
990 and boldly advertises the Wallace Arnold services -
Bradford Leeds Scarboro - across the back. The livery
is enhanced with lots of chrome work right down to
windscreen wipers, fuel caps and beading, all making for a
highly detailed model for bus and coach collectors of the era.
Burlingham Sunsaloon - Yelloway
This model takes us back to the glory days of luxury
coach travel in the UK. Yelloway Motor Services
operated from Rochdale in Lancashire. At its peak,
the company made up to 200 trips a day.
The Oxford Burlingham sunsaloon is decorated in
Yelloway’s famous colour scheme and displays a wealth
of ‘chromework’ on the vehicle. The detailed masking
operation has resulted in superb deep cream roof and
wheel arches, whilst the tampo printing extends to the
back, with the Yelloway Services logo and the
declaration ‘To Seat 33 Passengers’.

Nottingham Trolleybus
The much-loved three-axled Trolleybus comes in another
popular livery to add to your collection.
Nottingham City Transport’s trolleybus system lasted into the
mid 1960s and our version is a replica of the vehicle registered
KTV 590 travelling as the No. 43 to Bulwell Market. The highly
detailed City Transport crest features on both sides of the bus,
whilst advertising panels promote Hopewells for Furniture on
the nearside and Daybrook Are Quality Cleaners on the offside.
The trolleybus is rounded off with fine chrome detail and a
black pantograph.

Volvo FH D-TEC CombiTrailer – Norfolkline
This brand new model is all Dutch to us! D-TEC trailers
were founded in 1959 by Jan van Vlastuin – an established
stove-maker in Maarsbergen. His company developed
over the years making semi-finished products, notably for
the car transporter industry. It was only a short step
from there to the production of the patented
CombiTrailer – a unique transport solution.
The CombiTrailer is a separable trailer, enabling
companies to transport 30ft, 40ft and two 20-foot
trailers, as one, as well as being able to access the front
and back container if necessary. Or, if necessary, the
vehicle can be split into two to transport one 20 ft trailer,
leaving the second one behind.
This new piece of Oxford tooling makes its debut in the
well-known and collectable livery of Norfolkline, which
also had its roots in the Netherlands. The company was

there are plenty available from various railway manufacturers. The trailer
is suitable for carrying 20ft, 40ft and 45ft containers.
founded in 1961 by a Dutch entrepreneur Mr. Reemus,
under the name Norfolk Lijn NV. Operations centred on
traffic between Holland and Norfolk in the UK – hence
the name, acquiring a Ro-Ro service vessel in 1969. In
1974, he sold the business to Unilever who have
expanded it over the years into rail freight, refrigerated
transport and container transport. It also launched a new
ferry route between Dover and Dunkerque in 2000. In
2008, Norfolkline was voted the Best Ferry Company at
the Guardian, Observer and guardian.co.uk Travel Awards.
Our model is a skeletal trailer only and does not come
with the containers. However, you can complete your
transporter by obtaining the compatible Hornby or
Bachmann accessories to carry your own personal loads.
It will sit well on a contemporary layout covering the
2000-2010 period.
