Zimmermann Stalltechnik GmbH is a dynamic, performance-oriented 

family business with tradition and own 

production. 

Our headquarters in Oberessendorf and production halls 

in Ritzenweiler are in the Upper Swabian community of 

Eberhardzell. 

In order to quickly and conveniently serve our market 

demands from farmers in Switzerland, Zimmermann & Co 

Stalltechnik was established in 1998 in Fulenbach. 

Besides our stall facilities, we also produce gates and 

doors, roof ridges, and various other steel components. 

We also offer slatted floors, manure systems, silos, 

feeding machines, Westphalian milking technology, as 

well as other miscellaneous fixtures for cattle, pig, and 

horse stalls. 

Production 

Self-manufactured in Germany and hot-dip galvanized in 

Switzerland, over 2,000 tons of steel are annually produced for 

our stall systems and barn equipment. 

Our well-trained and experienced staff can honestly and competently 

advise you in all matters concerning stall construction.

Since our inception almost fifty years ago, our business has 

developed into one of the leading producers of barn equipment 

in Europe. 

To be able to show our customers the various products 

on-site, we have a large in-house showroom in both 

Germany and Switzerland. 

Our showroom in Oberessendorf includes a 1.500 m2 indoor showroom, plus an open-air exhibition – one of the 

largest, most comprehensive, and certainly most beautiful 

showrooms in the branch. 

Through constant communication with our clients, our farming 

consultants, research centers, and academies, we 

are able to provide constant improvements and innovative 

products. 

It is our company goal to measure up to the needs of

The Igloo Exercise Areas - Pro Type consist of two 4-bar system partitions 

of variable length with base support, igloo latches, and a side entrance door. 

The front has a ZIMMERMANN calf self-locking fence, with optional pail 

holder or nipple pail holder (see also pg. 10). Also available with a stainless 

steel trough.

The ZIMMERMANN CT Fence System is a modular, 

economic solution for housing calves. Depending on regional 

regulations, calves up to 6 months old can be kept 

here. Groups of calves can be made by simply removing 

the partitions. The CT Fence System is made with highmolecular, 

microbe-resistant polyethylene – practically 

indestructible.

By using the reinforcement clamps, the partition walls 

can be removed. This permits the creation of larger group

Calf Boxes 

Our Calf Boxes are available as individual boxes or as 

row boxes. They are fitted with a variable connector 

system and can thereby be expanded upon or changed 

at any time. The frame is self-supporting and can easily 

be assembled and disassembled. The walls are made of 

hygienic, highly resistant plastic profile (35 mm thick). 

The side walls of the row boxes have a mesh partition on 

the upper halves, to provide the calves with ample opportunity 

for vision and touching. All boxes are equipped 

with holders for a drinking pail and a nipple pail, as well 

as with two possibilities for locking the calf.

Our calf crushes secure the livestock from behind – not by the throat. Two flexible 

Trevira® belts are attached as a barrier to the feeding trough. This helps prevent any

Slatted Floors for Calves 

MIK Prairie Slatted Floor 

The Prairie is a slatted floor with specially designed gaps 

that also provides livestock with traction support. The 

high gap width of 20 mm also allows a sufficient passage 

of manure. 

The Prairie can support animals up to 250 kg and can 

also be used for sheep. The slatted pieces are approximately 

40 x 40 cm large and are placed on flat iron girder 

beams. Every 10 cm, the grate can be cut and the next 

row can be begun with the remaining piece – thereby, 

even with a length of 1.40 meters, no waste is produced. 

For channel lengths, a 10 cm wide grate piece is available.

you with the optimal feeding fence depending on the 

application, type of livestock, age of livestock, or housing 

situation. 

All Zimmermann Self-Locking Stanchions provide

Various Possibilities for Installation of Feeding Fences 

Behind the Barred Wall: 

Normally for slatted floors 

Large post slots in canal sockets 

Advantages: 

The barred wall can be easily concreted 

and does not have to be very 

strong 

The fence can be installed somewhat 

quicker and does not need to 

be adapted between the posts 

Disadvantage: 

The posts are in the vicinity of manure,

Whether standing or reclining, every cow wants one 

thing — to have its head free. 

Our patented Doro Stall offers the optimal reclining 

comfort for your livestock. 

When entering the stall, the cow is fixed on the side, 

allowing the cow to lay down straight in the stall. While 

reclining, the cow has complete headroom, due to the 

short shape of the stall and the patented curves of the 

front pipes. 

It is no question that the cows feel more comfortable in 

these stalls than in conventional stall structures. The elastic, 

movable neck collars and the chest holder guarantee 

an exact positioning of the cow, which does not affect its 

ability to stand or recline. 

The Doro Stall is bended completely from one pipe 

(2“ - 60.3 mm); the support foot is composed of a 

double-pipe, providing optimal durability. The stall is 

flexible and it will never break due to any welding seams 

(the weakness of conventional frames). The stable floor 

attachment is doweled with heavy duty anchors, to 

which the entire stall frame is bolted. 

The stall has an excellent frame due to the bended reinforcement 

pipes — the installation of elastic neck collars 

is also possible.

The Doro Stall is doweled to an even concrete surface 

(concrete available upon request). The front stall boundary 

consists of a soldier beam. 

The Doro Cavity Stall has a raised, concreted head stall, 

identical to the front stall boundary. The raised head stall 

is much easier to keep clean.

The Friesland Type reclining stall is a self-supporting 

reclining frame anchored to two reinforcement pipes; it 

can be installed as a double reclining stall or as a single 

against a wall. Due to its special design, no further divider 

pipes are necessary for the double reclining stall rows. 

The Friesland stall offer the livestock much room for its 

head and behind, whether the cow is standing or reclining. 

For more cow comfort, install a bent reinforcement pipe 

and flexible neck chain instead of the stiff neck pipe.

Reclining Stalls - Friesland & Profit 

The Profit Type reclining stall is a self-supporting reclining 

frame mounted to two vertical 2 1/2“ pipe posts. 

The box fastener is identical to that of the Friesland Stall, 

only the suspension is different. For double reclining 

stall rows, we recommend an additional divider pipe. For 

the concreting of posts, the Profit stall is a good and 

affordable reclining stall.

What is a ZIMMERMANN Stall System? 

The ZIMMERMANN Stall System is a type of multistructure 

outdoor climate stall, which roofs the cattle 

with standardized steel beam structures solely during 

feeding and reclining. The walkways between the individual 

structures are only partially roofed. The Stall System 

offers the animals an ideal housing environment, which 

is an absolute requirement for optimal animal health and 

milk production. 

The Construction Features 

Included here is only a selection of our standard constructions. 

The dimensions of these make them optimal for cattle 

(or young cattle) stalls - they present a variety of combination 

possibilities. 

The structural design has already been calculated. For 

each order, we offer a civil-engineering confirmation or an

The Advantages of a Stall System 

Cattle have an excellent homeostasis and are particularly 

well adapted to low temperatures. On the other hand, high 

temperatures can quickly cause in heat stress, a lower 

food intake, a marked decrease in production, as well as 

mastitis and fertility problems. 

Due to its open design and short roofs, the Stall System 

guarantees an optimal stall climate with plenty of light and 

fresh air, even in the most extreme weather conditions. 

The creation of condensation is largely prevented. At the 

same time, the animals are provided with complete protection 

from drafts, rain, and strong solar radiation. 

The reclining stalls are protected from wind and rain and 

can be equipped with all of our stall frames and mattresses. 

The casing of the building is reduced to a minimum,

Why a ZIMMERMANN Stall System? 

We were the first company ever to build this type of stall 

in Germany. In the early 90‘s, we completed our first 

projects and have continued to develop this system ever 

since. After many years of empirical studies, today we are 

proud to offer you our premium, complete Stall System. 

Due to our high volume sales and our standardized basic 

program, we are able to provide the systems at a good 

price-to-product ratio. The planning costs are lowered 

through our preliminary work (structural statistics, floor 

plans, ...) and the installation is quick and simple. Much 

of the installation can be accomplished on your own 

without special machines or tools. The stall construction 

is made even simpler, as many holders, drillings, and 

separation walls will be prefabricated and suited to the 

dimensions of our stall system. Forget about the various 

posts, brackets, and other components - the quick and 

simple installation of the stall system takes care of it all.

In order to guarantee a smooth construction sequence in 

a short time, we offer you competent and individualized 

consulting and construction services from the planning 

to the construction. Your construction project will be reviewed 

by architects from the start, to make sure that all 

building components (foundation, stall frame, equipment, 

manure system) are correctly constructed. 

The structural designs of our standard buildings have 

already been calculated. For each order, we offer a civilengineering 

confirmation or an inspection of your structural 

calculations free of charge. 

Our stall systems offer a flexible and individualized 

solution for almost every construction project, whether it 

is a new building or an expansion of an existing one. 

We also provide suitable roofs for the installation of 

continuous reclining mattresses and for the young cattle 

reclining areas. These possibilities are not available, 

for example, with the so-called roof boxes or with the 

concrete reclining cavities. 

The simple construction and the low height of the building 

components allow the installation of the system stall 

to be simple and positive for your own production.

Design 

The mattress system is a combination of an extremely 

wear-resistant over-mat and an especially soft, supple, 

and comfortably under-mat. 

The under-mat is made of non-toxic PU foam, also 

used for the production of so-called „cold foam 

mattresses“ for humans. It is protected from potential 

moisture damage by an additional PE foil sack. The 

stable top-mat, made of PP synthetic materials (tested 

by German Agricultural Society) is water-proof, nontoxic, 

and wear-resistant. Through the cross structure 

on the surface, the mat is slip-proof and dry, because 

the straw stays put. 

A plastic beam at the tread board serves as an anchor, 

which provides additional stability when the cow stands 

up. Although the mat is very soft, it distinguishes itself 

with a superior form stability in the under-mat. The mat 

does not condense and will remain comfortable for a 

long time.

Single-Panes Sash Windows 

We've been manufacturing top-quality Sash Windows for over 15 years. 

They are available as single-paned windows up to 2 m high or as dual-paned 

windows up to 4 m high. The length is limited to 150 m per mechanism. 

We use exclusively stable nylon ropes together with a filament wound tube, 

wound with HDPE synthetic material. 

High-quality, weatherproof mechanisms and controls allow for smooth 

operation. 

ZIM Sash Window Construction:

ZIMPlex Glazed Plates for Sash Windows are installed 

in thicknesses of 16 and 25 mm, depending on the span, 

height, and wind exposure. They are of extraordinary 

quality and have proven themselves to be reliable for 

outdoor use in stalls. 

The patented K Structure® assures the optimal compromise 

between sturdiness and insulation 

The co-extrusion protects from UV rays and the static 

charging of ZIMPlex glazed plates 

The wall opening for single-paned sash windows can be up to 50% of the 

eaves height (measuring from the outside ground). This is generally sufficient 

for providing dairy cattle with enough fresh air.

Depending on the barometric pressure and humidity, heat 

stress can begin to affect dairy cattle at around 30°C. This 

results in mastitis, miscarriage, lowered milk production, 

etc. 

Properly installed fans can cool the stall by 6 - 8°C and 

helps prevent heat stress in your livestock despite high 

outdoor temperatures.
