Kent CCC Beckenham
I have now been the Manager at KCCC, Beckenham
for 6 years and finally we have gone a long way to
securing KCCC’s long term future at Beckenham.
On 12 January 2012 the KCCC outline planning
application was approved, this will dramatically
enhance the Club’s operation at the County Ground,
Beckenham. It has still got to be approved by Boris
Johnson’s Team and then the detailed planning
application needs approving. However, the biggest
hurdle has been overcome.
The plans include a new astroturf hockey / football
pitch, an indoor cricket academy / sports centre, a
health and fitness centre, 2-3k permanent spectator
seating, and a small conference facility. The funding
for these facilities will be raised through enabling
development. The new facilities will provide the
required revenue streams to create a viable future
for the ground, and in turn ensure that professional
cricket continues to be played in Beckenham.
Most importantly, it establishes a thriving sporting
centre of excellence, this will help us considerably
in the development of talented young cricketers. I
anticipate that this, coupled with our community
programmes, will bring something very special and
lasting to Bromley.”
We were pleased to be able to stage two FPt20
matches versus Gloucester and Surrey. Please come
along to KCCC, Beckenham for our FPt20 against
Surrey on Sunday, 17th June 2012.
In addition to the 1st X1 matches we hosted a
number of 2nd X1 fixtures and numerous Kent Age
Group Matches. We successfully hosted Corporate
Events and our Resident Clubs ODCUACO and
Beckenham whose lower X1’s both use us as their
base ensuring that both of our squares are fully
utilised. We continue to grow our reputation on the
back of our superb facilities and excellent hospitality.
I would like to thank Bromley Council and our
Landlords, Leander for their contribution. The
KCCC, Beckenham team has held its own in an
increasingly competitive market place. We are
working hard in raising the ground’s profile and
increasing the income generated through maximising
the use of all our facilities. Our weekly footfall is, on
average, 1500 per week.
Our room hire income, bar and catering income
have all increased significantly as our reputation
for excellent service has become well known
throughout the local area this has been further
increased by bookings for 18th and 21st Parties. The
introduction of a community membership scheme
is now our focus following our planning application
approval, with the object of filling the bar during the
week.

We have a Business Networking Group that meets
for breakfast each week a Chess Club and an
Archery Club.
The Bromley District Cricket Coaching (BDCC)
team use Kent CCC, Beckenham as their base
throughout the year and was responsible for 16,000
attendances by children at Open, School and District
coaching sessions; 5 Junior sides representing
Bromley District; supporting 29 Clubs with
memberships totalling 2000 adults and 1900 juniors
in 2011. Congratulations go out to all the players
from Bromley District that played representative
cricket. Bromley now have 20 players in the County
set up which is a fantastic achievement.
With a number of coach education courses being
held at KCCC and with opportunities to run more
in the future following the development, Bromley
District is building a strong team of coaches and
volunteers to support the Club and School network.
A very successful District Presentation evening was
held where over 120 people attended to celebrate
Bromley’s season. The proceeds of the raffle and
auction went to the Ben Daniels Memorial Fund
the charity Bromley District Cricket Coaching is
supporting. Ben Daniels was a District Player, he was
incredibly fit and healthy but had an undiagnosed
and undetected heart condition. Throughout his
whole life there was nothing to suggest he needed
to be screened for his cardiac health. Ben died of an
undetected arrhythmia problem with his heart.
Returning to the KCCC side of things, the Deputy
Head Groundsmen (Paul Whittaker and Dan
Walker) continue to improve our ground facilities
as evidenced by the positive feedback from our
users. The Office Manager (Nancy Whitaker) well
supported by our Chef (Keith Boyle) and Duty
Manager (Nikki Rapley) have worked well as a team
to ensure that we have increased the number of
bookings, we have many testimonials showing what
a positive impact the whole team has on those
using our facilities. I would also like to thank all our
volunteers for their important contribution.
