NEW PRODUCTS<br />

Machining large sheets of material or oversized flat<br />

parts can prove challenging for today’s manufacturers and<br />

contract machine shops. <strong>The</strong> sheer size of the material<br />

requires a large-capacity machine, but the work itself<br />

usually requires high speed, rather than heavy milling.<br />

<strong>The</strong> new <strong>Haas</strong> SR-200 Sheet Router is an affordable<br />

solution that provides expansive capacity in a lighter-weight,<br />

gantry-style, 3-axis CNC machine with 148" x 76" x 8" (xyz)<br />

travels. It easily accommodates 6' x 12' sheets of material, and<br />

accepts ISO standard G-code programming through the userfriendly,<br />

full-function <strong>Haas</strong> CNC control.<br />

<strong>The</strong> router comes equipped with a 24,000-rpm, 8.9-hp<br />

(peak), 30-taper spindle for cutting and drilling various<br />

plastics, sheet metals and other light materials. An optional 10pocket<br />

automatic tool changer is available for unattended<br />

operation using multiple tools. Other high-productivity<br />

options include high-speed machining with look-ahead,<br />

a hard drive with Ethernet interface, a remote jog handle<br />

and full 4th-axis capability.<br />

All-new shop capabilities<br />

Versatile 3-, 4- and 5-axis <strong>HMC</strong> configurations<br />

<strong>The</strong> new <strong>Haas</strong> ES-5 Series <strong>HMC</strong>s are compact<br />

and affordable horizontal machining centers with<br />

generous 40" x 18" x 22" (xyz) travels, and a VMCstyle<br />

enclosure with good visibility and access. Each<br />

machine features a 24+1 tool side-mount tool<br />

changer and is equipped with an 8,000-rpm, 40-taper<br />

spindle that features a unique inline, direct-drive<br />

system that couples the motor directly to the spindle<br />

to provide fine surface finishes, extreme thermal<br />

stability and quiet operation. A 20-hp vector dualdrive<br />

system with on-the-fly wye-delta switching<br />

yields plenty of low-end torque and a wide constantpower<br />

band.<br />

For added performance, an optional 12,000-rpm<br />

spindle powered by a 30-hp vector dual-drive system<br />

is available. This spindle provides more power than<br />

<strong>The</strong> open-frame design of the SR-200’s steel-beam base<br />

allows users to design their own table and fixturing<br />

specifically to meet their individual needs (a 1" thick MDF<br />

table is standard). <strong>The</strong> overhead gantry assembly travels the<br />

full length of the fixed table on precision, low-friction linear<br />

guides, resulting in extremely accurate positioning. Powerful<br />

brushless servomotors on all axes produce high-speed rapids<br />

(up to 2,000 ipm in X and Y) for fast cycle times. <strong>The</strong> standard<br />

configuration includes a 15" color LCD monitor and USB port.<br />

the standard spindle, as well as additional speed for<br />

high-speed machining operations. For increased<br />

tool capacity, a 40+1 side-mount tool changer is<br />

also available.<br />

<strong>The</strong> following configurations of the ES-5<br />

platform are available: <strong>The</strong> ES-5-T, a 3-axis<br />

<strong>HMC</strong> with a standard T-slot table; the<br />

ES-5-4AX, which features a 52" x 20" T-slot table<br />

with an integrated 4th-axis platter; the<br />

ES-5-4T has a rotating 4th-axis T-slot<br />

table that’s easily adapted for cylinderhead<br />

porting; and the ES-5-TR, which has<br />

an integrated <strong>Haas</strong> TR-210 dual-axis<br />

trunnion table in place of the standard<br />

T-slot table.
